Dauntless News - Phoenix Labs has announced the launch of the first free open beta content expansion for Dauntless. Called "The Coming Storm", the expansion includes a new Behemoth, Koshai, to the game alongside the new Ostians faction, new story content and quests, and new items and gear to collect. With the launch of the expansion, players "can expect new content on a weekly basis, culminating in a new ranged weapon, the Ostian Repeaters".

    They should launch an expansion where Maelstrom mobs won't one-shot players in maxed-out pre-Maelstrom armor. I simply *had* to quit the game because I didn't come even close to killing Maelstrom behemoths after 10 attempts, both solo and in group - having maxed +6 equipment. Also where is the ranged weapon?

    From what I understand, that will be unlocked over several weeks.

    I still have high hopes for this game. I'll play when they balance stuff out and add a few more missing things.

    Hmm, coming out with MHW is a bold move, at the very least this provides exposure since anyone who plays MHW will notice Dauntless as well. It's not bad to bounce between both games if you finish MHW or Dauntless and still want big monsters to beat up.

    The only hope I have about Dauntless is that its sequel will have graphics on par with Diablo 3 at least. Present visuals were good only to create a proof-of-concept demo, not a long-lasting game to which players would want to return having (moddable!) Monster Hunter as an alternative. And if MH devs will add multiplayer lobby level then there will be absolutely no point to play Duntless (unless once absolutely cannot afford a copy of MHW for 15-25$ during upcoming sales).

    The most boring game of 2018, now have, more boring stuff to do! Let's kill this new behemoth 50 times that will escape 50 times and gather 5 feathers that will be magically transformed into a greatsword.

    Wow. So, this small and late content update is going to be divided up into bite sized releases on top of everything else? Not impressed.
