We review a lot of gaming headsets but today we’re sharing something special: the Audeze Mobius. It’s one of the most exciting headsets we’ve come across and nothing short of a game-changer. Audeze is well known for producing high-end headphones for musicians, engineers, and audiophiles, so coming into the gaming space, they knew they had to do something special. Well, they did, and it might just change the headphone industry as we know it.

For $400 I was expecting 3-50kHz and somehow would last over 100 years of usage, but well I guess I'm asking for too much. But if you ask me it looks like a $100 pop headphone and probably die in 10 years, lol who knows, just another overly price head ware asking to be stolen xD hehehe. I love music and a good pair headphone is a good thing to have but for $400, even for studio use is asking a lot for a wireless and I still don't think wireless sound device tech is there yet in my opinion.

This isn't anywhere near a $100 headphone. The 3D is revolutionary. Full stop. No one else out there is doing that. It's expensive compared to other gaming headsets, for sure, but not bad against other planar magnetic headphones at this caliber. It's also not wireless only and can connect in whatever way you feel is best. Based on your comment, I question whether you read the full review.

I may have to get one of these. I love my Sennheisers, but this sounds great. My PC is my entertainment; games and Netflix, this sounds perfect for both.

The frequencies that you hear in high end music listening, movies or mixing don't even matter in the cluster bomb of dynamic sounds you get bombarded with in gaming.

This is overkill. Unless Bill Conti, Tangerine Dream and Dr. Dre have collaborated to do a games soundtrack, with voicing by Morgan Freeman, Jessica Lange, and SFX and foley by the best studios in the USA, why?

Might as well go a level higher level and the more expensive better quality stuff if it's that important to you.

When companies like Audeze do gaming products, they use lesser parts, make it look tacky and ugly compared to their other products and throw some obnoxious color or racing stripe on it. Then they price it above the market value and use their quality name to bamboozle Hoss and Cleetus.

I own a pair of Senheisser HD800S and a HDVD800 to go with it and it is worth every penny to me. Just as some people are tetrachromatic (sp) ears vary allot from one person to the next. For me the difference is not in the massive chaos of huge fights but in the quiet moments. Good positional sound combined with crystal clear quality is more immersive to me than slightly more lens-flare (looking at you JJ). I am really curious to see what the 3D sound is like in those and might pick up a pair for gaming.

If you get nothing from higher end headphones then by all means stick to your 100$ ones but do not discount people who use and value higher quality products :) Just my 2 cents of course.

    Cheers,

    Kahrek Laume.

The most I'd ever pay for a set of headphones is about half of what they're asking. I don't care how good they supposedly are, they're still made of the same dirt cheap foreign sourced components present in any other given electronic device. $400? Absolutely not.

AN' DERE AIN'T NO SUCH FING AS ENUFF DAKKA, YA GROT! Enuff'z more than ya got an' less than too much an' there ain't no such fing as too much dakka. Say dere is, and me Squiggoff'z eatin' tonight!

I wait until the spoiled rich kids get tired of theirs then pay $5 for a perfectly good set.

@Solar_Prophet - The speakers are custom built planar transducers made in Orange County, California. If you are in LA area, drop by our factory and we can show you how they are built. The elctronics and final assembly is in china. See video on how the transducers are made here - https://www.cnn.com/videos/business/2015/07/17/spc-traders-audeze.cnn

I live in the Midwest but thank you kindly for the offer. I'm glad you're keeping at least part of the manufacturing process here in the States, but that still doesn't change my mind about the pricing. Your headphones still cost more than my console, my last GPU upgrade, a hundred short of what I paid for my TV, about 7 games, and twice that of a PSVR headset. It's just too much money.

Come on, how can anyone justify spending $400 on headphones???  Ridiculous price for headphones and for 99% of gamers the $100 will do just as well!

You should see their high-end headphones. They are works of art and the price tag reflects that. They're like something Anthony Hopkins character in Fracture would own.

If they're going to play in the tacky "gamer" gear space they need to adjust that price or cut losses and stay with high-end.

This might be a nice headset if your computer doubles as a DAC. I actually listened to these through Signalyst HQ player and Jriver. Nice open Sounstage, but I felt the mid range was a bit weak. For this kind of money I would say this isn't bad at all.
