Since Mike Laidlaw left BioWare last year, we've wondered what he's been up to -- and now we know! He has been a creative consultant with Spanish development studio, Gato. In this new video, Laidlaw introduces The Waylanders, a new RPG that is heavily inspired by games including Neverwinter Nights and Dragon Age: Origins. It features Celtic mythology and a time-traveling protagonist who spends time with party members in the Middle Ages and a separate Celtic war party.

This indeed gives me a lot of vibes of DA:O (The good ones), and this game is right on my alley (as a rpg fanboy) but since is in such early stages i guess it will take a while to see it launch and i really hope doesn't come with any Kickstarter or Indiegogo campaign that would raise red flags to me, hmm but come to think of it Divinity Original Sin and Pillars of Eternity were on kickstarter and they turned really good so maybe i'm just overthinking it too much.

And they better don't forget what made DA:O such an awesome game in the first place, if they're taking inspiration from it:

    - Good Writing
    - Meaningful choice making (short and long term)
    - Interesting Characters
    - Decent Plot
    - Interesting Lore
    - intriguing and interesting Quests

Those are some of the elements that come to mind right now, i'm sure that i'm forgetting more, i won't mention setting and locations since they seem doing well in that deparment from the looks of it.

Thanks for bringing to attention, i will be keeping an eye on this one for sure.

Not sure why the logo on the intro says Gato, it is actually Gato Salvaje = Wild Cat

I'm interested in this game, but even in third person gameplay i can see the user pointing and clicking to move... I hope they add a variety of control options before release (WASD, gamepad). They have plenty of development time ahead of them so there will be no excuse to skip those options.

Inspired by dragon age origins (Never Winter Nights inspiration isn't bad either)? I like it. Will keep an eye on this to see how things develop.

Sounds interesting. Made me think of Chrono trigger x DA:O. Some of my favorite things about DA:O was replayability due to real choices that affected the story and significant differences between classes that made subsequent play thoughs enticing. Let's hope this game has real choice and play options that result in different story paths and dialogue options that determine outcomes instead is it the illusion of those things.

Yes I loved Dragon Age Origins too and would love to see another game in that vein very much so.
