Also, what are your thoughts on Warmode for those that have used/tried it? Do you get a lot of world pvp action like people were saying, or do you find more people in general have warmode off?
my personal experience is I see a LOT more people with it off. I turn it on and barely see anyone as alliance. Sometimes a horde tries ganking me, but it isn't very common. That is in BFA zones as well where more people are leveling. So I turned it off, cause it felt like a singleplayer game to me with it on.

I turned it on to see if anyone was pvping and not a single person doing it. I saw horde around, but they were doing there own thing..lol Didn't see that many on alliance side either for my server. Turned it back off and have no plans to ever turn it on again.
Took me a couple days, but I managed to get one toon on alliance to 120. Working on horde now and I will be done until the next major content drop.

The most fun I've had with War Mode so far was with the Darkshore quests during the pre-patch. I have noticed that the population is a bit thin since entering Kul Tiras with War Mode on, but I play on a Role Playing server and it appears that we're only sharded with other Role Playing servers. I'd imagine the War Mode population to be more substantial on Normal servers.
I play with it off, but I've considered switching it on for that reason alone...as one of the rare people who reads quests and checks out little details as I go, it can be kinda annoying questing when everyone is so bunched together you can barely see anything or hit a mob twice before it's zerged by 3 or 4 other people. Right now with most Alliance in Kul Tiras and Horde in Zandalar, it's probably pretty uncommon to see world PvP in those areas, anyway.
Not going to turn on war mode even though I like PvP in general. If I want to solo PvP I'll try the new dueling mode (which seems awesome), and if I want to group PvP I'll do battlegrounds. The only reason I see war mode existing is to encourage high lvl vs low level ganking, or group ganking vs solo players trying to level up.
I don't own bfa. But I figured they would have made the leveling so that alliance and horde see each other in the same areas more. It's interesting a lot of people claim to not see other (enemy) players.
Had it on for awhile, turned it off now because there just aren't enough people. It was great fun on Darkshore and until there's a reason for factions to be fighting in compressed locations like that over resources or a common objective, it's going to largely be a bust, I believe. Meh
Lorewise, it makes more sense for the player to actually have war mode off. If ignoring blizzard's forced-in race wars with BFA.
In Legion, players pretty much gave up on their respective factions (horde and alliance) and made their own class hall and became leaders of that. The player character was disappointed with how "their" factions acted. All were united in the class hall. Sure it was united against an enemy...but the players themselves didn't really involve themselves in "their" faction and again, were in fact disappointed by them
So why would players suddenly care about race wars when they made their own class hall and were leaders of it? Maybe the commoners and military of horde and alliance would care...but the players? Not so much.
The other thing is...most of the heroes of azeroth (thrall, Khadar (though he aims more alliance than thrall does horde) etc...lots of heroes are neutral) aren't technically part of that faction they are a race of. They also help (in legion and before) the players no matter what race. Like thrall isn't really even part of the horde at all anymore and is neutral like many other heroes. And the players are the heroes as well, so why would they actually care about some race wars?
So if you take into account the player lead a class hall for all races...and never really (for a few expansions now) cared too much about race wars...no reason they suddenly would care about race wars in BFA.
So lore-wise in terms of ignoring BFA forced race wars...if considering WoD and Legion...it makes more sense for the player not to involve themselves in that and would leave it up to the "commoner".
For example...azeroth's wound would (if considering the player characters from legion) be far more important to the player than pathetic race wars.
Heck, most of the cutscenes the players aren't even involved anyway during siege of lordaeron and the burning of the tree...the player wasn't in those scenes at all.
But the more important thing the player character would focus on (like many other heroes of azeroth) is healing azeroth and focusing on much bigger things than frivolous racial stuff.

I was hesitant to turn it on, and since I've had it on, I've noticed that the majority of people that I've seen on Kil Tiras also have it on. Members of my guild have it on for the significant XP boost that it gives them. I haven't been attacked at all yet...

why not have it on for the xp boost and pvp talents? who cares if it's a bust? if you really want open world pvp you can travel top the other factions questing area.
otherwise it still feels like pve even with warmode on.

Open world needs PvP objectives added that spawn only for Warmode folks. I've suggested towers or even forts placed in strategic locations between Alliance/Horde camps/ flight paths that garner bonus Honor and/or provide small loot benefits to owning factions (bonus gold, bonus War resources, etc.). Provide those buffs to the entire faction, so that folks who mostly PvE but are okay with PvPing have an incentive to participate in taking objectives.
Alas, with megaserver tech, this probably isn't workable. Organic player interaction isn't really encouraged by megaserver tech the way most seem to think.

I turned it off for the same reason as SBFord, I like playing a MMO and seeing people running about their business, It adds to the immersion for me. Whats funny about this expansion is the whole thing ie story is based around war yet i feel this is the least PVP i have encountered.

hmm it seems no different to me when warmode is on, i still see the same horde players running around just with green names. i do see your point about the pvp, though.
I noticed this weekend more people playing in War Mode on. I have a feeling that as more people reach 120 we'll see more people enabling it. I had some fun engagments both in Kul Tiras and in Zandalar.
Same here. Also, if you're looking for that OWPvP, just head to the opposing faction continent for the WQs. You'll see Horde wandering the area for sure.

I did not pick a PvE server for no reason.
