The World of Warcraft site has been updated with a pair of newsy news items. In the first, devs detail a number of changes coming to the item listing process on the WoW Auction House. In the second, an exploit that allowed players to "farm" quests repeatedly to gain Exalted reputations has been identified and hotfixed. Players who took advantage of the exploit will be punished, though no word has come down yet on what that punishment will be.

Rather than some meaningless 3-day ban, I'd like to forego time away from the game and see any reputations that benefited from the exploit reset to neutral. Let them grind it out painfully again -- because grinding rep in BfA is painful.

Better yet, and channeling my inner-Hordie, reset all affected reputations to hated. >:)

yea just remove their reputation these 2-3 days bans are retarded... no wonder people using all exploits when there is no reasonable punishment for it...

Agreed reset it to neutral and make them grind it again.

Resetting the rep is more punishing than a 3 day ban.

Odd to even use exploits with rep being so easy this time around. Just doing WQ each day I've already got pathfinder, level 19 neck, tons of upgrades and now scrapper/DE mats, and resources to last me a while.

Best AH I have seen is from Rift.

You place any quantity of a certain item in there, and people buy from it, depleting your stack number.

If you put 100 of cloth, then one person can go there and buy 3, another buy 50, another buy 10, and so on...

WoW needed this, that way each person selling that specific item would show up as a slot, and then you choose whatever person is selling cheaper and buy from their slot.

I always miss out on the good exploits, like the exp exploit at the start of WoD using timeless isle turn in items. As for the AH thing (if I understand correctly in what they are wanting to do), raising the cost isn't really going to do much imo since people have hand-over-fist tons of gold from legion. People that post stacks of 1 (imo) tend to do it for harassment purposes, since they know it grinds people's gears and can cause technical issues if enough do it.

If they dont reset those reputations that were exploited to neutral I've lost all faith in exploiting consequences and will just join in on the cheating in the future.

That sounds great actually. Would love to see that happen.

    Wow... O.o

And then you'd probably complain about being perma'd?

So those who exploited will keep the benefits of exploiting and get to resume their play before M+ and raids are released? Lol.

What they are not going to take that which they earned unfairly a three day ban ...that's it.... what nonsense that is so unfair.

  • ArskaaaArskaaa Member RarePosts: 1,265
if 3 day ban only, its mean majority player base used exploit and they afraid permaban them.
  • AlbatroesAlbatroes Member LegendaryPosts: 7,671
Didn't they outright permaban people that used the exp exploit back at the start of WoD? I'm a surprised as to why such a light punished. The rep really should be reset to neutral a minimum.
  • btdtbtdt Member RarePosts: 523
They can see how much rep was acquired and reverse it if they wanted to... I suspect the issue is the preponderance of the player base either knowingly or unknowingly benefited from the bug.

Rather than sift through a million account logs, they just chose a simpler solution from their perspective.

Can't really punish the unknowing... people chain WQs at max level until they no longer appear.  It's very drone like gameplay.

They're not gonna reset the rep, will they. They should, 100%, but they won't.
  • Tuor7Tuor7 Member RarePosts: 982
Every point of positive rep they have should be changed to negative rep. That'll learn 'em.

The AH solution is horrible. It's basically saying they can't (or won't due to expense) engineer a solution so they're screwing with the trade system costs to achieve the same. That sucks. It just makes it more costly to trade on the AH.

Are these the same guys that did progression balancing too? /smh
That was what I was thinking.  They penalize not only sellers, but buyers who need a specific amount of mats and don't wanna buy a full stack just to craft a few bags because it discourages partial stacks and increases the cost to sell (and therefore buy) said partial stacks.  It does seem like a rather lazy effort when you look at systems like Rift's or even GW2 (using buy/sell orders).

I don't think it's necessarily that bad of an implementation to be honest (although I'm sure there are better ways to do it)

The cost isn't insane, I'll be happy to not have to post singles to sell my crap anymore, I was posting 500 auctions at a time because I didn't want to have to deal with going through 20 pages of singles with each individual mat just to see the price of the stacks (it was bad enough with linen already when you have to go through 7 pages of the rare versions with the stupid delay)

If the cost is 2g a posting, I'll gladly post at the old stack cap of 20 each, I"m sure people will still post singles as the 400g posting fee is nothing compared to the 7000g payout at 35g each for ore. But i am hoping this limits the amount of single posting at least a bit so I can scroll to the stacks without having to go through 25 pages of singles (with the fat delay).

They should replace all the gear of the exploiters with gray items.

    That's a simple one-button press right? :)

    Gut Out!

    What, me worry?
