As I'll be 93 at the time I'll have my conciousness tranferred into EVE, which will then give me access to all computer systems in the world.

A new age of terror....err enlightenment begins, the 'mad god' reigns....

    ;)

Speaking of time travel, I recommend a German program on US Netflix called "Dark", quite an interesting take on it which will keep you guessing

Is that with subtitles? We tend to get the impression here that you don't "do" subtitles in the US? :)
Having said that the BBC did is own version of Wallander, gob smackingly awful.
You aren't wrong subtitles are mostly a no go, in my case because I can't game and read subtitles at the same time.

Fortunately Dark was well dubbed in English and the voice actors were top notch.

Also as German is fairly close to English in terms of sound formation and cadence it is a lot less unsettling as you don't notice much of a disconnect between the dubbing and what is on screen.

You are gaming and watching the TV at the same time, was that just an EVE thing? More input, more! :)

32 years ago the best sort of games you could get had that top down perspective look. Since then computing has come on leaps and bounds and you don't see that sort of sub-standard view used any more...OMG they are still using that everywhere, what went wrong??!!!

Side scrolling was also common 32 years ago.  So was a "three quarters" view that wasn't really overhead.

Commodore Amiga was my first serious gaming PC.  No hard drive, just a floppy to boot and a lot of floppies to run the game.  Remember someone saying something about never needing more than 256 KB of ram.  Having a 1200 baud modem that dropped the connection when you got a phone call.

Indeed, after I read Neuromancer I thought we would all have access to a virtual world by now, what went wrong? :)

Lets see if I can remember, I started in 1985 with a Tandy 1200 and CM-5 moniter, my 1st pc game was F-15 strike eagle and StarFlight. The 1st online game over a dial-up was Allegance and 2nd was EverQuest. No sure if this was ground floor but not long after.

Just like in 1986 we couldnt picture where we'd be in 2018, we probably cant see where we will be in 2050 now.

It sounds like the Fusion hype. Back in the 70's(I guess 80's could count since it carried over into 1980) during the Iranian Revolution and the resulting Fuel Crisis, people were making it seem like Fusion was just a matter of time. When in this day and age we're still trying to perfect materials that can tolerate those sorts of temps or still chasing after Cold Fusion.

Only to end up disappearing the next year when they found more oil all over the place including the United States, effectively reducing dependence on OPEC nations.

Is the next big leap quantum computing afterwards? Isn't it interesting living in the data age where we get to wonder about such technological marvels that could very much help us in either short term or long term space ventures as well as hopefully improving every day life here back home?

I think we'll have viable fusion reactors running by 2050.

2050 - No one reads text in multiplayer games, with the exception of tiny amounts like a signpost.  Younger players have pushed for voiceacting-or-gtfo.  Mice and keyboards? Also gone. Sadly, we have still never moved beyond "kill 10 rats" as far a quests go.  There will be age-gates within a game, separating casinos, love hotels/brothels, etc. from the regular content.  Virtual casinos will fight each other to get exclusive access to the most popular online games, and fees from casinos and advertising will support part of the game's running expenses.  Music streaming into the ears of gamers will also have this kind of structure.
