Lets say that every single post that you read, you HAVE to give it a reaction before moving on.
The reactions are obviously, Agree, Insightful, Awesome, LOL and WTF, as per current forum options.
Which reaction do you think you would give out the most?
What reaction do you think you'd receive on your posts the most?
Comments
My posts? By going my the reactions all-time on my account of people to my posts, Agree. Followed by Insightful. However, I rarely start threads unless I just wanna ruffle feathers in some way or find something incredibly interesting and pertinent to recent discussions. Aka, I rarely ever create new threads.
That was a joke btw.... ahhahahah Now everyone click my LOL Button
Aloha Mr Hand !
I like the fact that we have different folks here in the community. You and Kyleran get a lot of LOLs I think are genuine and not the "da fuq you even talking bout, m8?" LOLs. Others, like Red and SupermanOX, get a lot of Insightful because they share a lot of personal, applicable insight with us. It's nice having a motley crew.

I currently have more Awesomes than anything, but I imagine if everyone HAD to give reactions it would change to LOLs. Especially given the double entendre of it.
I rarely remember to hit any reaction so I would like everyone to know that you are all about twice as agreeable and awesome as you think
2nd best reaction is WTF, but I never give those out. I only like receiving them. Since that means someone got triggered by a post and I don't let meaningless posts on a random internet forum ever bother me.

But...
I agree. They don't do anything, and doesn't make people make better content. In many ways it ends up doing the opposite. They aren't very useful.
At least reddit points you can sell on uh "internet black market reddit account selling sites" so if you have enough reddit points and don't post in a certain political subreddit, can get 20-100 USD out of a reddit account. Which is an actual thing btw.
MMORPG.com no one is gonna want to buy a random account on here no matter how many posts or points one has lol.
If their purpose was to make better quality posts, then LOL and WTF ends up doing the opposite of that. Granted I'd still make the same posts anyway even without them...but a lot of people like to farm LOL and WTF on here lol.

I don't agree that we should treat all individuals as nameless equals. Hierarchy has roots in nature for millions of years. And the hierarchy here has formed solely on each individual's insight, opinions, activity, etc. Not your social or racial background, not your financial status, etc. It is just formed based on what you have written about games and gaming.
And there's a reason we form bias and place people in a hierarchy even in our mind. Because we don't have time or the capability to assess and evaluate everyone we meet, each time we meet them.
Of course there are negative sides to this as well. But to throw it all away is just wrong.
Now I'm not saying the system here is perfect. As some of you know I've been working on this subject for some time now. But I still consider its pros do highly weigh over its cons.
I receive more agrees than anything else (I had to look at my profile). I'd rather have more insightfuls
I do agree with @DMKano about the whole system, though. It punishes differing viewpoints.

Personally the only modern MMORPG trend that annoys me is the idea that MMOs need to be designed in a way to attract people who don't actually like MMOs. Which to me makes about as much sense as someone trying to figure out a way to get vegetarians to eat at their steakhouse.- FARGIN_WAR
I'll need a new Teal color introduced and given to me for "Read at your own risk" status.
Gut Out!

Not to say the system couldn't be improved. But saying there is no value to such systems is also an unfair generalization.
