Guild Wars 2’s sixth anniversary was this week and it got me thinking about how this game has managed to hold my attention for so long, because this is a rarity for an MMO. So, I thought this was a good time to look back at my personal journey with Guild Wars 2 and how it has managed to hold on to me.

Additionally, the world is just beautify to play in, I love the art.
I also love that they are adding new maps every quarter...there is so much to explore!

Guardian is the best class for a starter, i love my guardian
And leveling shouldnt be that slow man, but keep in mind that gw2 is so beautiful that even at level 80 youll love to explore all the maps and doing everything that has to offer (atleast for me) xd. My advice is: dont rush things on this game, enjoy the ride, if you are tired of "questing", maybe a bit of pvp or gathering for a profession? or just explore the world
One thing that helped me was to follow the story. Do the Personal Story as you level up, this will get you into the story and lore.
Also talk to the npcs in maps. Many of them spawn dynamic events and will tell you lots of background lore.
Once you hit 80, doing the Living World story seasons 2 is good. Then do Jeart of thorns, then LS season 3. Then PoF story. Then LS season 4. The story really pulls you into the game.

Oh that's great to hear. I haven't be back to the starter areas in, well probably years at this point.
As far as my MMO experience has gone, I don't think anything beats EVE as far as sandbox goes and I don't think anything beats ESO as far as story goes.
EVE's player driven economy and ability to do virtually anything you want from scamming people, waging war, trading, crafting, etc. just blows everything I've ever seen out of the water. The only game I've ever seen come close to just the kind of economy that EVE has was Star Wars Galaxies... until they broke it for something more streamlined and easy. Sad. As far as everything else goes, I've never seen anything else like it.
Elder Scrolls Online, on the other hand, has entertained me with its story and lore like no other MMO has and I attribute this to one core thing: voice acting. Every line of dialogue in the game is voiced. Every. Single. Line. This is powerful and no other game does it that I'm aware of. Games like GW2 and FFXIV have some spoken dialogue, but nothing compared to ESO. Besides the writers' skill at telling stories and the choreography of things that happen outside of one-on-one dialogue, the fact that all dialogue is voiced makes the story worth paying attention to. There is a certain constraint that the writers have to have if everything is voiced. I can't tell you how many useless dialogue boxes I've skipped over in games like FFXIV because there was just so much damn text. No one talks like that. If someone does we stop paying attention. Which is kind of ironic because this post is pretty text heavy... anyway...
With all that said, GW2 has been a pretty good experience for me. I appreciate the amount of voice acting in the game. I still find myself more than likely skipping a lot of the text dialogue as it feels like filler. If it wasn't important enough to voice, it's not important enough for me to pay attention to. The story that's there that is important enough for voiced dialogue isn't the best, but I'm paying attention. I am curious to see where everything goes and thankfully the actors did a good job with their VO's. This is entirely unlike FFXIV. I heard so many good things about the story in FFXIV and was really hyped and hopeful when I gave that game a try. It didn't do it for me. GW2 has a lot more VO dialogue than Final Fantasy and the acting is far better. FFXIV has terrible dialogue, for the most part, and feels so SLOW. Back to GW2, though, I really appreciate the differences in story depending on your initial character selections. My brother started a new character for my benefit and watching how his story unfolds and its differences is pretty cool.
I also really like the sandbox elements of the game. Running around nabbing vistas or trying to find some elusive location on the map I haven't been to because of a clue some item gives me is pretty fun. The jumping challenges are a pretty neat feature in the game and hope to see more interesting things like that as I progress. I haven't tried PVP or WVW, but one of these days I'll give it a try. I much prefer following story and doing PVE things, though.
Overall, I'm liking GW2. I still think ESO is better if you're looking for story and believe it's art direction is better as well, but GW2 is solid so far. I'll definitely be playing it more and am looking forward to what happens when I get closer to end game.
TL;DR: GW2 good game. Me try and like.
