Known for their clean designs and sharp lines, NZXT is making a name for themselves with their premiere PC components. Whether it their H-Series cases to show off your shiny new rig, a Nuka Cola themed CRFT motherboards, or a Krazen-series AIO to deliver deep-sea chill to your CPU, NXZT has a style that evokes class. Can they make a power supply just as sexy? This is our review for the E850 PSU by NZXT.

If someone has $150 to spend on a PSU, I'd recommend Silverstone Nighjar 520W. 80+ Platinum efficiency and it's completely fanless allowing silent computer builds.

If it powers your kit with stability, awesome! Glad you found a good piece of gear.

I did forget to mention in the review that the E850 does have a silent fan mode that can be controller via CAM. That is such a great feature if you are trying to stream or record audio! Nothing is worse than getting into the middle of a really great point and have fans ramp up!

    Thanks for reading!

A power supply review with no load testing? Really? No mention of how good the voltage regulation is, or the ripple suppression? No measurement of energy efficiency, or even fan noise at various load levels? Nothing but a few screenshots of software that says that you're barely using the power supply?

Not even an explanation of who actually built the power supply and which platform this is? You do realize that NZXT doesn't build power supplies, don't you? The unit you've reviewed is basically this, with some modifications to allow software monitoring that may or may not be very accurate:

Nice power supply, yes. But look how much you're paying for that software to monitor the power supply.

I realize that doing a good power supply review is hard. At minimum, it requires the use of load testing equipment that you probably don't have.

But can't you at least copy/paste the specs from NZXT's web site properly? It has one 24-pin motherboard connector, not 11 of them. And three PCI-E power cables with 2 connectors each gives 6 connectors in total, not 4.

Hey Quizzical, thank you for catching that. I take ownership of the title and requested a change. This was never a review for exactly the reason you said. Force of habit in putting review in there - virtually *everything* else is a review and I messed it up. This was always intended to be an impressions article. As you mention, load testing equipment is necessary and super expensive, so we're not equipped to "review" any PSU for the foreseeable future.
