About the DDO community

random11random11 Member UncommonPosts: 765
Okay past few days i read a lot about how mean and elitist the DDO community is, and that the community is ruining the game etc...

I have argued enough in those topics, stating my view of the truth. I now present 3 of the 5 most actual topics in the wow board.

familiar? check this one:

http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/thread/74327

post no.2 starting with "cry more noob".

Safe to say there is nothing wrong with the DDO community. Actually in percentige it has more mature members than most mmos. So please stop the DDO community bashing, and never forget who started it in the very beginning.

Your examples come from MMORPG.com's forums.  Mine come from DDO's forums.

    Take this one, for example:

    http://www.ddo.com/forums/showthread.php?t=31213

Here we have a fine example of a Founder realizing that the game has issues, and the fanboys turning on him like sharks sniffing blood.  You'll also note that the OP of this thread has a few derogatory things to say about his own community ("I dont want to wait for a fellow groupmates brothers cousin to log on after he finishes a quest...i dont want to wiat for a 40 year old to go to the doctors office...")

As I said in an earlier post .. your argument is akin to saying "there are murderers in every country, so the murderers in my country must not be so bad".  The argument makes no sense.

Not that you'll ever see that.  All you want to do is argue with two or three folks here, you've said it yourself.

    *yawns*

DDO has no better or worse community than any other new MMORPG that has ever had issues at release.  DDO's are slightly worse because the game is crap and people get pissed about it...  That's all.

Currently Playing: Dungeons and Dragons Online.
    Sig image Pending
    Still in: A couple Betas

Those reacting that way are not fanboi, not all of them.

Doesn't matter what forums i brought the example from, fact is the wow community is nothing better than DDO's, yet you blame DDO community for a lot of things. Wow is only better than DDO, because it was designed for the masses, overly easy and safe...but there is no problem with that, I'm simply not a mass member, that doesn't make me bash the game all the time, I accept it is not for me....as you should with DDO, which is NOT for the masses...economically a bad decision ofcourse, but suits me fine, DDO has a future in europe...perhaps we're just more sophisticated :P ... joking

I peeked at the DDO boards after reading your thread.

Here's a link to one of the most popular threads. The title of the post is "People Leaving is Awesome".

    http://www.ddo.com/forums/showthread.php?t=31397

Here is a link to a few gems on the first page:

I love seeing people posting on the forum that they are leaving. They
do nothing but complain and pick apart everything that they possibly
    can.

The lvl 10 cap was a waaaaay good idea. Sucked all the powerlvlingers
in, got their $60, then gets them to leave. This clears the way for
more money upfront and then they can concentrate on the clients they
    want to keep.

[attempting to justify the lack of content]: They just wanted to appeal to a greater group of people first.

I have a feeling the maturity level of DDO went downhill sometime after the First or Second Great Exodus. It wasn't just the powergamers that left. It was also the mature casual players that were tired of cloned dungeons and other content issues.

The problem with this is...the people who are powergamers are the majority. Most mmorpgs come with powergaming features and the generation mmorpg gamers have gotten use to having a lot content in the games so when a game lacks content, the player base ends up being small. (Guild War is a perfect example.)

Unreal. I'm so glad I left that community behind. I've never seen such a concentrated group of elitist jerks in all my days.

I honestly hope DDO fails, i hope Turbine pulls a "AC2" and leaves these fools with no game. I've never seen a group of players who so deserved the title of asshole in my life.

I hope new, prospective players go to the boards and see just the caliber of "people" they will be surrounded by. And do the smart thing and never, ever play DDO.
