Personally I wish they would stand up new western Lineage the Bloodpledge servers, classic or even the latest build.
I'd like to return to my first MMORPG knowing what I do now, for better and worse.
Yes! You and me both. Why play the sequel when we can play the original? I would love to play Lineage, I never had the chance. Was it like Diablo II (or Ragnarok Online I suppose is a better comparison)?
Hard to describe really, as my first MMO back in 2001 or 02 I think I'm sure it played some other games, UO was its inspiration or so I'm told.
Nothing I played after it was much like it, especially not L2 which was the first (but not the last) time I was surprised to see a sequel be radically different from its predecessor.
I now understand why this is so but back then my vision of MMORPG evolution was remarkably idealistic and in reflection, very naive.
I really believed the idea of creating a virtual world was possible, now I know that won't be happening any time soon. (Much like flying cars)
Oh yes it was that kind of game. Being from '98 I'm not surprised. Everquest was the first game to put MMORPGs on the course they are now, no PvP, a narrowed focus, etc. (without insulting Everquest, which doesn't deserve it).
I don't recommend playing lineage 2 from ncsoft, just find a private server. these korean developers provide the worst kind of service and only want to cash grab.
Remember when you log in that this is taking the place of Wildstar and if it underperforms....that being said, they could've easily brought back CoH, just sayin....
I tried L2 last year for the first time got bored to tears, I understand back in the days when you could count mmorpg games with your fingers it was liked but for now days looks and gameplay are crappy to say the least.
ncsoft is desperate trying to cash grab with their expired stew while providing nonexistant service, their old games are so boring so i don't know how people buy into this crap.
Let me get it straight . Is this the classic server that NA can’t play ? Or this the new classic server NA can joint
Classic Server for NA.
And no Ciely, their old games are not boring. This was/is one of the best mmo's I've ever played. But then again, the content really was the players.

What do people mean by "cashgrab"? I have not played these games in a while. They are earning money from packages for pre-ordering and a cash shop. Is that all? Or are you implying that they will do something that another company has done, such as shut down the servers after they make the optimum money, or what? This isn't a trifling news item for me, if I am not mistaken, this will be the oldest MMORPG on the market for solo players in classic form...I don't care whether there are bots, cash shops, etc. Let me know if there is something wrong.

hardcore days will never return, now you you leave bot afk, go to work/school, and when you come back, your char is 2-3 levels higher.
are you implying it wasn't that way back in the day? Because if you are, you and I have been playing a different game, and you missed on Lineage 2
I had a 2 lvl 75 chars SE (Mineva) and a BD (Saffi). I didn't bot any of them, so yes some did bot but there was real players which lvled their chars.
And for all you people what didn't play back then after 65 you could lvl 15 hours a day for 10% after 70 + was less than 5%, even classic isnt as Hardcore as it was.
There is nothing classic about that cash shop. I have played multiple classic servers over the past few years and sunk hundreds of dollars into them for xp scrolls and the like. That being said I can safely say this wont last. Classic servers have a slightly longer lifespan than interlude servers due to the longer grind but even still its roughly 2 months tops.
Unless they are planning on rolling out new servers regularly people will get bored and move on. Sinking money into these flash in the pan servers is oh so pointless. Especially when they are handing out 30 day xp scrolls with pre-purchase this server will be toast in a month.
Regardless, I will be there just for the nostalgia.

L2 Classic is different from L2 before GoD. It is based on Interlude, but different. The class balance is great. I mean maybe the as good as it is possible in a MMO. At the same time the game had some big issues when I played - the raids, except epics, were bugged as hell. The crafting was kind of pointless as there are not rare items, and mobs drop a lot of gear. Half of the map - most dungeons do not work. The fortresses do not work - which is a huge issue as small clans have no battles for territory. At the good point - the mobs are stronger. In addition to experience loss, there is a chance of dropping items and gear, no matter if you are killed from mobs or a player. Only PK does not count. The PK clearing is absurd - no quests, you have to buy scrolls, so it could be P2W and also ridiculously easy.
That could make the game gang fest, but it is very much group focused. If you play solo, you will never reach the Olympiad. So the PK is not a big problem actually. Players rise characters in parties with trains of dozens mobs, and on bosses. The bosses here are very rewarding as experience, up to levels round 65 or even 70. On lowers you could get a level with 3-4 raids. So it is necessary to find a good constant party as early as possible. Most valuable characters - buffers, archers - they are the best on raids, at the other side for the trains on higher levels you need mages, tanks are appreciated too.
Some things will be different for NC West L2 Classic like not being any item drop from death.
Q: What is the leveling experience like on the Classic server?
The leveling pace of Lineage II Classic will feel significantly slower than that of the Live servers, and characters will begin to cap out at Level 70. The item drop penalty on death from the original version of the game won’t be coming back, but an XP penalty still exists at 4% loss per death. The five starting zones (Levels 1–19) will launch with additional Monsters and increased respawn rates to account for the initial rush through the lower levels.

So, taking this and a Cashshop with boosters etc. into account, it really isn't Classical L2 at all?

No, it will not be old school hardcore vanilla L2. Its more of a modified version.
This is from one of the Lineage 2 staff members on the official forums.
"The L2 Store for Classic will have consumable items such as Buffs, XP Scrolls, XP Runes, Cosmetics (Hair Accessories and Agathions), and Account Services (Name Change, Clan Name Change, and Gender Change).
We are implementing the Mission system from the Live servers, so you can earn XP Scrolls, Buff items, and other consumables while hunting/leveling up.
The Classic Server will be on Chronicle 1.5 with some QoL (Quality of Life) improvements, but I will talk about the content and our future plans for Classic in our Livestream next Friday (9/28).
I have always wanted to play this game but every time i have tried the same thing happens. I get to around level 30 and my armor all needs up grading but I have run out of currency because their soulshot mechanic eats all your cash. Probably the worst feature I have ever experienced in a game.

Ikcin in response to yours sincerely debating whether or not single-player offline MMOs exist...
'This does not apply just to ED but SC or any other game. What they will get is Rebirth/X4, likely prettier but equally underwhelming and pointless.
It is incredibly difficult to design some meaningfull leg content that would fit a space ship game - simply because it is not a leg game.
It is just huge resource waste....'
