Given the Witcher drama, what other books could make a great game

The recent Witcher drama got me thinking. What other books could make for an amazing game. For me I would have to say Brandon Sandersons Mistborn series. It has a cool magic system with an amazing amount of combinations as revealed in the second trilogy. Not to mention a variety of races and factions to choose from.

What other books could be made into a great game?

    The Old Man's War:

An interesting premise:  You got to 55 and volunteered for the space military, your consciousness gets shoved into a genetically optimized young body that's made for fighting alien threats.   and those threats have a tendency to be tougher than even humans.

Though you'd probably want to be somewhat choosy for which part of the timeline players start at, because it's a wild ride where stuff changes A LOT.

    The Dune series
Dune would be sick. I think Issac Asimov's foundation series could be epic as well

Yep. As long as books are used only as inspiration for lore/story and the gameplay features and actual gameplay are amazing - you would end up with a good game with crap lore.

For players like me who dont care about lore and dont read any quest text in MMOs - we wouldn't even notice
But we also know you'd be happy with stick figures for graphics.

If I'm not even slightly interested in the world, I don't care about the gameplay.  So almost the opposite of You....  ;)

If you are holding out for the perfect game, the only game you play will be the waiting one.

    Dragon Riders of Pern Series.

They made a few video games from this premise, and I enjoyed this one. Would love to see an MMO made with this premise.

"drama" lol is that what we are calling it now?

As usual I only saw one group of people making "drama" over a certain character's possible look.

I'm still excited to see the Netflix adaptation of The Witcher, regardless of whoever's "drama."

I agree with Dune but so many games have been inspired by Dune also.

Dude what are you talking about? LOL The drama being refereed to is whats currently going on with the writer of The Witcher and the folks who made the games.

and I'm not talking about that instance, I'm talking about the Ciri thing. There's a lot of "drama" around that also. As I said, I'm still excited for the Netflix show regardless of whatever Drama is surrounding the Witcher right now.  Paying Sapkowski more, how Ciri looks etc.. I dont care, I just want the show.

A IP creator asking for more money after his IP blows up even if he sold it, shouldn't be "drama" its fair for him to ask.

A Fantasy character looking different than a previous adaptation shouldn't be "drama" its just the director/producer being creative telling the story with their lenses.

Although I have enjoyed the books she writes and read them when I was young as a woman myself I disliked her earlier books because of the way she portrayed the women in them even after enjoying the other series like her Talents,Ship books and even Crystal. I think it was a reflection of the time she wrote in but it still irked me a lot.

I think the Dark Tower series could make a great MMO. It has so many different worlds and dimensions to explore it could theoretically last for decades. Imagine traveling from downtown New York to a beach full of giant lobstrosities and then ending up in an old abandoned ghost town.

The world of Doc Sidhe and Sidhe Devil, by Aaron Allston.   Sorta 1930's pulp/fantasy mashup.
