You missed "Because I'm a rabid fanbois that wants to flame vets".
"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience"
Even though I don't play anymore I still care what happens with SWG. I won't bash anyone who still likes the game as it's their $15 to do with as they please but on the other hand I would like to see what would happen if everyone did cancel in protest. Would they finally cave in and do different server sets like in DAoC? I belive DAoC pretty much caters to the whole range.

Yep, thats something I don't understand and is why I posted this. Why is it benefitting you to flame people who still play? Why is it benefitting you to tell me to play this game? etc etc
SWG is important to all it's older players IMO. It had a really big fanbase when it launched, and most of that even survived the castration of the game that was the Jedi Holocon rush. The combat upgrade actually worked for a bit and brought some people back. I personally endured all the way up until NGE.
It's a lot of time invested in a game, and on top of that, it's also Star Wars which has it's own meaning for many fans. I mean, Star Wars has cult status ranging between geek festivals, camping out at movie theatres, and charity organizations like the 501st that dress up as stormtroopers. Many 501st were AVID SWG fans.
User empathy for the game was definitely there and *very* high -- to screw up on SWG was to burn a lot of bridges. Sadly, I don't think the executives realized this and just how personal it would become.
Regardless I believe the only hope for SWG is that maybe they'll finally get something good into their heads and do Star Wars justice. It's REALLY bad when your average user in your userbase is saying that the game is completely unsatisfactory (and worse, has enough knowledge to know that the game is beyond salvation and probably has to be redone from scratch).

I'm here because in spite of SOE gutting the game and wrapping the entrails around a tree, I keep hoping a miracle will happen. /shrug I know, it only happens like that in the movies....
You have the category of "To dis the game in hopes that a SWG dev will see it." Personally, I post here (as well as on the LucasArts forums) in the hopes that LA will see how dissatisfied I am with SOE and will yank the Star Wars license from them to give to another company.
I would love it if SWG was something that I could enjoy again, but I don't see that happening with SOE at the wheel.
I'm here because I love this game and I want to see it restored to it's former glory and improved upon that. And I believe that the way to achieve that is to "educate" those who play or would play about what it was, what it is, and what it will be if it continues on the current path.
SOE knows what you like... You don't! And don't forget... I am forcing you to read this!
Complaining endlessly on forums does NOTHING so sway SOE. I think that point has been proven over and over in the past 2+ years.
But the repetitive b*tching by the turtles in the SWG community seems to highlight the fact that false hope runs rampant.
For me, the game is, eh, alright. I like the direction, but it's got a ton of work left to optimize it.
But, man, I must admit that I enjoy reading that posts about people getting bent to hell about what SOE is doing to SWG, and SOE just saying "Uh, ya, thanks, but we're doing what we want". Then having the Negative Community get that much more fired up.
-you “hate” the game and got banned from the official boards, yet you still pay the subscription fee and play 4+ hours per day so you can tell everyone how much worse things are
-you wish to save some poor sucker 15 bucks
-it’s in your SOE job description
-you thought it was a dating board and SWG stood for “single white girl/guy”
-you meant to click on the Shadowbane forums but missed (another reason why the NGE wasn’t for you)
-you like chatting up the ladies (but had no clue this isn’t the best location for that sort of thing)
-you love talking Star Wars, and no one here will take your lunch money
-there’s nothing good on TV and it gives you something to do while you’re traveling in Eve (that one’s for Agri )

I’m sure I missed a few, anyone else have any?
My fingers would have gone numb if I added all of those
I'm here for several reasons. First, I miss the SWG community, and I think there are a lot of those same people here on the MMORPG forums (I'm sure there are refugees on other private forums as well). Being here helps me recapture some of the sense of community that is now all but lost.
Next, I'm proud to number myself among the game's veterans, and by being here, I can help support other veterans who feel as I do about the loss of an existence that was very much ahead of its time. Is it all self-pity and venting? Perhaps, but it does help to keep the memory alive, and that in many ways helps to assuage the pain we all feel.
Which leads me to my last reason: Hope. Many others have said the same thing, and I re-assert it here. Although the adult in me knows that it's all gone and all we have left are memories, the kid in me lurks in these forums in hopes of seeing a snippet or whisper of good news about this franchise in the form of the original game returning.
In short, I'm just as crazy as everybody else here.

Vexin, I was kind of a vet, although not to the full extent. I started in Dec 2004 and I LOVED IT!!!
The CU came along and at first I was sceptical but I gave it a try and it was at best, tolerable and I tolerated it and got use to it. But then the NGE and it was just downright pitiful.
I do come here for hope. I loved the game: the sights of each planet and their uniqueness. The first feeling being a newbie and going outside Mos Eisley to kill anything I could near the port, being IN STAR WARS was amazing.
Before you ask 'why are you here' we need to ask "are we here?" or even "where IS here?" with a possible detour into "Is here where here is?" finally pulling up for a refuel around "Are we?"
I know I am.

I guess my "having hope" has just changed to flaming the game because it sucks because I am not paying $25 for a game even if they did roll it back to pre-CU.
