It's a guy running on a road. WTF are we supposed to see?

Here just some of the things i noticed:

    - Some pop in textures.

    - On one scene there is a fire torch blowing in one direction, indicating there is wind yet trees and grass are static. There is an optical/magnifying effect that makes the trees look like they are moving, but the leaves are still static.

    - Character animations seem smooth but don't look realistic enough. It's clearly missing some animations to make more realistic body movements. A realistic looking game without mocap animations look silly.

    - The tall grass doesn't move as the character runs through it.

For a game early in development it looks pretty good, but clearly there are many things to see in this video.

If all you saw was a guy running on a road, i don't know what to tell you :|

Video has more thumbs down than up. They might want to re evaluate their marketing strategy.

All I have to ask you is this...

Do you notice the grass moving as you run through it in your own backyard?

I highly doubt it even enters your mind to even look... and yet, you stare at this footage under a microscope trying to see things you'd never even pay attention to (99% of the time) in the real world.

Nothing in that footage says anything about the actual gameplay. Any student could have generated the exact same thing using premade assets. You could list a thousand games with great environments in them, but like can only list a handful that were actually worth playing.

Eye candy doesn't make a game. But people seem to focus in on it like it does. Then wonder why there is no there there when they get there.

It's way too early to form any judgements yet.
I hope the guns require reloading, the ammo is expensive, and they represent the power that guns did in real life. I don't want guns that act like just any other weapon. Bows and arrows too, for that matter, in their own style.

Another limp dicked survival title. We have enough of them. There is nothing at all that makes this one look like something special/better. Leaked footage is everywhere, they invited everyone and their mother.

    grass.....dirt path....grass....dirt path,yep some auto generated world ..nice...yuk.

A dev that owns Twitch is making games for twitch,i doubt we see any passion, just trying to cash in on more twitch viewers. Not even sure why anyone would want to watch this on Twitch,500 viewers...499 all watching some sponsored cute blonde chick.

Know what this cheap effort smells like,a VERY cheap attempt to start generating some revenue for other games, remind you of anyone...ahem Landmark.

Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

    RUN FORREST!!!!

Also it's probably just me - but watching that video on full screen was giving me motion sickness :/

Something about the FOV and the way the camera pans in the runthrough video is just very offputting.

Ha same. .I couldn't stop watching the arms. .then I thought. . do my arms move like that when I run?. . is that really efficient? Seems like a lot of energy. . must help with momentum and balance etc.. . what if I ran as fast as I could and tried not to move my arms. . going to try that tomorrow.. . chance are I will end up with a sore neck or look like something from QWOP. . time for some googling.. . but

Yeah. .the running seemed awesome yet strange. EDIT. . yep. . counter balance to angular momentum. . still going to try it.

Wa min God! Se æx on min heafod is!

Nice and all, I am just curious, where on earth did they come up with the setting in 18th century America?

Maybe because there is no game in that era?
Maybe there is a reason why there's no game in that era...i.e. sounds boring?
Because not everyone need lasers and dinossaurs to pay attention on something.

It makes sense a settlement game be based in certain historic period since the lack (or limitation) of technology helps in immersion.

Salem The Game is set on 1600 and works like a charm.
I'm sure part of the pitch for this game didn't involve it being niche though, which is what the setting will make it. There is no way this game will be that amazing that people that have no interest in that setting will want to play it.

This is what gets me about some gamers. I don't mean to be insulting, but haven't you ever run before? Of course you move your arms, and the faster you run the faster you move your arms.

But here's the thing. That's a flat run for speed, and doesn't include things an MMORPG will have when in combat, such as wearing armor and being combat ready. It's fine for flat out running for speed in game, though.
Notice the jump. It's like running hurdles. One foot first kicked up over the obstacle. If you were in combat, you would not do that because the landing determines where you are going next, straight ahead, and not ready to defend.
So in an MMORPG, I definitely prefer the hop look, like Captain America and Spidey, with both knees up, roughly together, and both feet coming down close to the same time, allowing for quick reaction when landing.
    Like WoW did.
