After the reveal of the Blizzcon 2018 schedule and seeing the prominent placement of Diablo following a keynote -- a "usual" sign that that is the "highlight" of the annual convention -- rumors and speculation have been flying about what could be coming next for Diablo. In a new, and between us, rather odd post on the Diablo site, the team seems to be asking fans to temper their expectations.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
To be honest I don't think it matters what they announce it will not live up to players expectations. People have gone off the rail in the past 10 years or so with expectations. Like others have said I got a really bad feeling that they are going to announce a mobile game which is going to make a lot of people happy and another same amount very frustrated. They have always followed the money and unfortunately today that is the mobile market.
They have 45 minutes, that is the same duration that the other (Non-WoW games) are mostly getting. The only thing they really did is mention they are "working on things, some big and small". Maybe they said you will find out about some stuff at Blizzcon, then the internet collectively jumps to OMFG DIABLO 3 CONFIRMED! I am glad they came out to say something, but man people overhype themselves over vague statements. They basically told us what we already know: There are multiple projects Diablo related in the works (We have known about 2 including the Diablo sequal for a couple years now)
then why even post in the topic

But it's probably just going onto some consoles, like every other bloody game is doing these days. I doubt it could beat civ 6 going onto the mobile, that's just funny.
Blizzard will just officially announce the TV series of Diablo on Blizcon and that will be the highlight. That´s it.
Rest of Diablo focus will be to market the Nintendo Switch release and have it playable at the convention, since it releases the same day.
So they are definitely not going to announce Diablo 4 on Blizcon and as such destroy the Nintendo Switch release of Diablo III. Wouldn´t make any sense, since they want to milk as many pennies as possible out of the Nintendo Switch release.

'But there are many. You can play them entirely solo, and even offline. Also, you are wrong by default.'
Ikcin in response to yours sincerely debating whether or not single-player offline MMOs exist...
'This does not apply just to ED but SC or any other game. What they will get is Rebirth/X4, likely prettier but equally underwhelming and pointless.
It is incredibly difficult to design some meaningfull leg content that would fit a space ship game - simply because it is not a leg game.
It is just huge resource waste....'

Some.... the word "some" literally means nothing of importance. It will be negligent updates or something and possibly announcing that they are working on D4 which we can expect in 2020 or optimistically late 2019.
Honestly I'd be happy if this Blizzcon they announce the release of D2 and WC 3 remastered. At this point I've lost hope for a decent diablo game and WC 4 is out of the question it seems, so a remastered is(at least for me) the best thing I(we) can get.
Had to add this lol:
Beta tester maniac
Let me repeat:
Just because the topic has "diablo" in it's title, doesn't mean we need to hear about your love/hate relationship with it, or how Blizzard has forsaken you; especially since the actual topic is not about our opinions on the game franchise itself.
It's like replying to a Blizzard tweet stating "Maintenance on WoW has ended! Have fun!" with "I hate what you have done with the game!".
This kind of marketing is disgusting, but unfortunately we do not have any one to call them out on our behalf for this kind of shady practice.
