The Legendary server for Lord of the Rings Online now has a name: Anor. In addition, the team revealed that the start time for the "vanilla" LOTRO server will be on Thursday, November 8th at 9:00 am Pacific / 12:00 pm Eastern!

    Aight , im in .. Getting my knee replaced on Wed the 7th .. Think you got your day wrong(Thurs the 7th?) .. But bad news i will miss launch day .. Good News is i have nothing to do after that .. :) Also would like to know what the Cash Shop is going to be selling .. Stat/Deed tomes and Mounts really are a game changer

    I so want to play this but just dont have enough time between real life and other games.  The only caveat is Diablo has left my rotation.  So maybe I can get in a little.

    Not sure about stat/deed tombs. Obtaining mounts will be no different to how it's done on the live servers.

    I'm also disappointed there will be cash shop stuff. I don't mind deeds as that just removes hassle/grind, but stat tomes are too much in my opinion. But I'll definitely be playing.

    Agree, not making the jump. Might help that I've just started a fresh hobbit Minstrel on Laurelin.

    It is incredibly difficult to design some meaningfull leg content that would fit a space ship game - simply because it is not a leg game.

    If they ever get around to re-doing the game engine, I'd be all over this. It just doesn't run well at all on my PC these days and it's only a couple of years old.

    I'll be on at some point. . might skip launch day though.  I would like to know about cash shop as well.

    Missing launch day might not be so bad :)  I know i'll just end up harvesting most of the time. . le sigh.

    The difference for me is that it will be a fresh start.   Not that it is a huge difference.  What really puts me over the edge is that (please don't laugh) I have played off and on since beta and never made it to Moria.  Alts and restarting  / relearning just kept me back. . I also like the low level experience in most games.

    This is just what I needed to push ahead and re-interest me in the game.  It gives me a nice target timeline for leveling. . I can do it with everyone else.  Right now People just start throwing crafted gear at me and I can't really contribute to a guild etc.

    This is what I am facing now.  I love hunters but I have played them a lot before (highest level character).  I do like Warden so I quickly tried Hobbit because i think that would be "fun". . didn't like it.  So. . man Warden or Elf Hunter.   I am a huge fan of Dwarves in most games but for some reason guardian didn't work for me and I am not sure what else a dwarf should be.  I guess I could try a Dwarf Champion (Troll Slayer).

    Im still on the fence but ive been thru all that content a 1/2 dozen times , and have my Hunter at 120 ..   But its really fun experience for those that arent burned on it ..

    i haven't really played LotR since since first month of release, then it got really convoluted with the f2p model, so i shied away, been reading about the new server, and because of that the VIP status, unlike other games, VIP doesn't give you any expansions!!! you have to pay for them as well as the subs. So my question is as you have to be VIP for the new server, are expansions going to be free or chargeable like the current servers as they are released?

    It’s about distilling the players in order to focus the community. Not a bad thing really. Though in some ways it’s like a voluntary server transfer .

    Was interested in this until I read the cash shop would still be in. Why can't they have a purely aesthetic cash shop since they require VIP membership?

    Try a Dwarf Minstrel.
    It has always been my main. Never a second thought about it.

    Stat tomes is an epic mistake. I think it could ruin classic. I want classic to be wildly successful but having these p2W aspects inside the game troubles me. I'm going to play because I am a fan, but I am deeply troubled by tomes.

    I tried it again a couple of months ago with the f2p model and yeah it stinks.....No interest in this whatsoever.

    LOTRO is now launching a "Classic"  Server...

    Well the best quote I ever heard about this kind of thing is by Kabulozo

    Interestingly - with the release of Mordor - stat tomes ceased to be a big deal. And less again with Where Dragons Dwell.

    So whilst "older" characters will have most of them, as far as 14 especially, newer characters won't pursue them that much. I mean when a single ring can have over 1000 main stat and going up a few item levels might add a few hundred more the 15 for the early Tomes, 30 for the later ones don't really cut it.

    On the new server though they will be able to regain their prominent position - if they are in.

    I have started characters before on different servers so I not be tempted to send them cash and items from my higher level ones. That makes the game way to easy. On a new server you have nothing but what that character him or herself obtains.
    So sure I make a character on this server but not sure what class. 
    Of course I have a lifetime sub, doubt I would pay for a vip sub just for it.

    Err I dont get it lol. So somehow people get excited to play a ten year old game..... If you want to argue the expansions "ruined" the game well hold onto your hats because they will eventually be introducing all of those expansions to the classic. boggles the mind how gullible people are really. Everything you can do on classic you can do on the current live and the current live has much more to offer. Its not like this is some open world pvp game where you fell behind and need a reset. LOTRO is one giant single player MMO, no one groups, next to no one does the group content. A "classic" reset offers really nothing beyond a reset which a current live version new server would accomplish but again why you want that makes no sense anyways (make a new character on live and you have a fresh start).
