It isn’t often that you find a device that can truly excite you, and even more seldom that you find one that allows you to take it anywhere you go. The Royole Moon 3D is one of those devices: it’s a headset that’s also a personal theater, gaming apparatus, and mobile audio center all in one. This is our review of the Royole Moon 3D Mobile Theater.

what can it actually do? are you able to use it as a replacement monitor? if so, does it have a lag due to 60hz?

It takes place of your main monitor. I saw no lag during my testing. Plugs with HDMI right into your GPU, also plugs directly into your gaming systems through HDMI and plays as if you are looking at your tv. I tested and loved God of War 3 Remaster for PS4 on it. 3d Movies look amazing like you are right in the movie as well.

    Is it worth the 500$...?

    How is the sound?

No details on pixel density and screendoor effect. This imo is the most important thing in VR. It's what could either make it a success or a failure. I see no details on this in the article. Nobody wants to watch a movie where you can count the pixels

Agreed! Can you see the pixels? That's what I'm waiting for in a headset product. Once we can't see the pixels, and assuming it's not crap in other ways, my wallet is open for business.

One of the most positive reviews on the net for this device.

"The product described in this article was provided by the manufacturer for the purpose of review."

    And there you have it.

Is there a microphone? If not, it seems like a huge oversight...

It isn't VR, It acts as your screen and I didn't notice much pixelation. It was as if I was looking at my TV or Computer Monitor.

No Microphone on this device. I used my normal microphone when playing multiplayer games. The audio quality is good and I could hear everything including my team mates.
