Finally a way to make the Archeology profession interesting? If Blizzard is able to integrate mobile gameplay functionality into WoW it would interest me. If not it would interest me as much as PGo did.

    Solid hour.

Get ya money Blizz, just not my money.

This is why I dislike mobile because they are sucking away the money, talent and possibility of PC games.

Good idea business wise, not that good for Blizzard Entertainment long term appeal.
Activision/Blizzard should create another division for Mobile games.
Blizzard Entertainment is associated with PC gaming and has an hardcore PC based audience.
Labeling Mobile games with the Blizzard Entertainment logo might be detrimental in the long run, as its loyal player base might start seeing Blizzard as a generic game developer.

Putting Diablo Immortal and Warcraft Go (or whatever will be called) under Activision Publishing jurisdiction, to me would be a much better idea (Activision is already considered very generic).
Blizzard fanboys will be able to sleep at night knowing that their beloved developer is not whoring itself up to the market demands, while Blizzard/Activision will be able to put a strong foot in the mobile market, without alienating part of their customers.

I think Blizzard/Activision communication strategy needs to be more cleaver.
Shoving mobile games into Blizzard fanboys mouths, isn't exactly clever marketing.

PS: I am assuming that people know that Blizzard/Activision, Blizzard Entertainment, Activision Publishing are all different entities even if connected.

^ That's that faux industry insider BS.

Never mind it. Dude probably imagined himself with a giant box of donuts and coffee passing it around in a board room and the head chair asking him "What do you think?"  :D

For me, mobile will never be able to offer me the same experiences I can get on PC. Mobile = shovelware IMO. I don't game on the go and have no use for it really. I play the games my kids DL on my cell and good thing they're free...but that's just me.

If they could integrate mobile games to enhance my PC experiences like I've mentioned in other threads and someone's mentioned here, that would be cool and I'd actually use my limited game time to experience that gameplay as something new and interesting to work toward my 'main' game.

I'm sure there are others that commute long hours to work and mobile gaming is all they can do, so I always hope those peeps can find good games to enjoy, but I'm assuming the good games are astronomically low.

So finding and paying for a good mobile game would be a chore, and I would have to see how much of the paywall/P2W BS goes away after owning the game also. I have yet to find a mobile game I'm willing to buy to enjoy the experience without ads...

    Gut Out!

    What, me worry?

at the end of the day, their mobile games are gonna make a shit ton of money for them because as pissed as peeps are right now over Diablo, everyone will still play it. why? cus its Blizzard and everyone plays whatever crap they release. see WoW for reference.
    This is complete bullshit.

I'm not going to play it. And millions of other people are not going to play it.

    Ridiculous statement is ridiculous.

    "cus" is not a word.

People are getting angry/shocked for a business going after something that will make them $$$?

Can we all take a step back and ask - what is the primary objective for any business?

I personally won't play this for even 1 second - but again I am not the intended market.

Why bash a company for going after money - it's literally the reason why companies exist - to make money.

If a new team is set up and they crack on with the mobile game leaving everyone else to get on with the games we love then that's fine. But is that happening? Or will the Warcraft team get sucked into the mobile game?

Also if this is a huge success what does that say about the future of gaming? Fortnite is sucking up players, FO76 and Bless is making people paranoid about new releases and mobile is making a fortune. PC and console gaming is on notice.

I said this 5 years ago...

WoW will be the demise of itself because Blizzard will ruin it with their piss poor game design philosophy OR they will go mobile.

The MMO Genre is reverting back to it's beginnings of Niche MMO titles. Pantheon will save us!

This. Exactly why I am getting nervous seeing more and more companies jumping over to mobile.
If thats where the money is, that is where the talent and effort will be spent, meaning less effort into PC games.

Also seeing crap games like fortnite becoming such a hit bothers me. We are already seeing most companies jump over to that bandwagon. Much easier, and cheaper to pump out a Battleroyale game then a fully fleshed out RPG or game with depth.

Sad days we are in. Sad to see a giant like blizzard point their ship in that direction too.

When a company gets to big you have to feed the beast. Blizzard has bills and overhead. Employees need paychecks. Top guys guys/gals at Blizzard have to make their crazy house payments and their luxury cars. Mobile games is weak, but hey it is easy money. I said it many times before in these forums, that we as gamer (MMORPG-ers) are being phased out. These gaming companies are going to were the money is. Bean counters at Activision must be cracking that whip...

You would have to be pretty arrogant as a large development studio to ignore the easier to make and highly profitable products, considering you can spin off already popular IP's with relative ease.

I see nothing wrong with wow-pokiemon or diablo mobile.  So long as it doesnt take away from what they normally do.  Yes it was stupid to announce ONLY the diablo mobile game when people were hyped for a major announcement, mobile isnt blizzards bread and butter product and shouldnt be hyped as such without a relatable large announcement from the core game IP on PC.

Personally not interested in phone games as a major attraction, i just want something to do in a waiting room type environment nothing involved, with my mobile games...for some its all they have to game on so i get the allure and appeal.  The numbers mobile games attract and money they make is real...

Also if blizzard doesnt some chinese knock off company will using their IP...even if they use one of those companies to get into the chinese market.

Suuuuure industry insiders, if Metallica decided to do a pop record with the Gangnam style guy their fans have 0 latitude to be shocked and appalled. FOH.

Metallica has played with Lady Gaga though and it was awesome...

Of course they are, there speciality is copying other's work and tweaking/polishing it. Dont think they had an original idea since Warcraft 1,2,3 and diablo 1 and 2

Zero interest in this or any mobile game for that matter.  Doesn't bother me in the least that they are doing though.  Sounds better than Diablo mobile.

I'm not an IT Specialist, Game Developer, or Clairvoyant in real life, but like others on here, I play one on the internet.

it's this shortsighted mentality why Nintendo love releasing old tech an making billions calling it next gen, their even selling cardboard as innovation... so the ignorant masses just may push a profitable mobile market.

to me Thu it a bubble that will pop sooner rather then later the more people try chasing that         " easy " causal player money. the only way mobile gaming will maintain a steady profit for the big company's is  if they integrated even more ads that are built into the games beyond what's their now, think TV commercials but randomly played instead of loading screens.

even then i wonder how good the games in the future will be, their is not one game currently that released on mobile that could not have been a better PC/console game or that i feel is GOTY versus a GOTY console/pc game.  the day a Mobile game beats pc/cosonle as best game released for they year, is the day i believe their is mobile gaming.  till then it just casual market were you can spend $$$ to play what should have been part of the game for free or cheaper dlc.

    Pokemon Go works, because...Pokemon.
This is probably the most popular Cartoon for kids on the planet.
Plus, Pokemon (the cartoon) is about collecting monsters inside a Ball, which in the game version is represented by a mobile phone.

Pokemon Go is basically bringing the Cartoon to real life, that's why it works.
Why would you want to collect Orcs and Undead?
Warcraft characters are not so cute to have a big mass appeal like Pokemon Go has, and Warcraft fans don't really give a shit.
    So good luck with that.

I am all for trying new things, and the Mobile market is certainly something Gaming Companies cannot ignore.
Diablo Immortal make sense, even though their communication strategy was atrocious.
    But Warcraft Go?
    Naaah.

If horrible games like Candy crush can make millions, how much more a franchise like Blizzard? It's obvious that the mobile market is easy money, just look at how many terrible games have had success. FOr some reason, people want easy games to play on their phones rather than to sit at a PC or console.....Most of us here are more hardcore gamers, but the general public? No way.

You forgot Flappy Bird... that's the gaming mentality you need to design for to make a mint.
