The Legends of Aria site has been updated to let players know that Early Access is ready to roll for tomorrow, Tuesday, December 4th but that the Steam launch is being delayed to 2019. The post informs the community that the Steam delay is to provide more time for the team to ramp up its team. In addition, developers need time to develop and test data synchronization fixes and the team needs a bread from the 12 hour-a-day, 7-days-a-week development cycle.

I've been playing it during head start. There are a ton more players than I would've thought, and I'm on the second official, less populated server. There have been the usual MMO launch week issues, some server crashes, a few ~hr rollbacks, bugs. I had to turn off Discord due to all the constant whiny complainers acting like this is the 1st time any MMO has ever had launch issues, ever....

I'm glad the team has decided to wait on the Steam launch:

"We need time to internally and publicly test our fixes for data synchronization. We will not take an unstable product to Steam, even if it is in Early Access."

    That's a good idea.

I'm having a blast so far, good times. I managed to claim a land plot not too far from a town, time to go grind up some gold, so I can place a house and get my vendor setup.

I think it's important for them to NOT continue in the "crunch time" mode of 12 hours a day / 7 days a week. That's crazy and unhealthy. They need to rethink that and I believe the community would support a somewhat slower cycle to keep the team healthy and happy.

The only reason they avoid Steam is because of bad reviews and word of mouth.
Look at UI and Combat even ugly is to good to describe this debacle, developers misunderstand something, most gamers want old school MMORPG features but not old school MMORPG's which look like they came out 15 years ago.

This just in........... got this email today.

    Steam Must Wait.
We will not be releasing Legends of Aria on Steam on December 4th. We made this decision for the following reasons:

We need time to ramp up. We are actively expanding our customer service and development team to meet both this weeks growth and the growth we anticipated when we bring Legends of Aria to Steam.
We need time to internally and publicly test our fixes for data synchronization. We will not take an unstable product to Steam, even if it is in Early Access.
We need a break. Our team has been captured in a frenzy, our core programmers working at least 12 hours a day 7 days a week. This isn’t mentioned for sympathy, but if we don’t slow down then we’ll start dropping out of our seats (and there’s not that many of us).
This launch has been a huge milestone for us, our user count is growing every day and this is the opportunity for us to grow with our user base.

Up until this week all preparations had been made, our client has been accepted by Steam and we’re in a position to push the button. We’ll push that button when we’re ready; we’re looking at a date shortly after the holidays.
The site post is linked in the full article. ;)

I don't think this game is for me at all but you are exaggerating the issue. The game is not that bad at all. There are some serious problems no denying that and it is certainly an unfinished product. But I didn't have any problems with either the ui or the combat while I was playing in the beta. Graphics were pretty nice too. And seems like some of my friends are having a blast while palying it.

Never mind health and happiness.  Working crazy hours isn't necessarily even productive.  Especially for complicated, technical things like debugging, if you're not mentally sharp, staring at a screen doesn't necessarily do a whole lot of good.  And if you're putting in 12 hour days 7 days a week, you're not going to be mentally sharp.  You're going to make dumb mistakes that you wouldn't have made if you weren't exhausted.  When you've got nothing left, the most productive thing that you can possibly do is to go home and rest.  And that's even if we assume that the only thing that matters is productivity, which we shouldn't.

Maybe if a launched game has some showstopper bug accidentally go live and make the game unplayable, you put in a 12 hour day to get it fixed if that's what it takes.  But not for a game that hasn't even launched yet.

Unfortunately this isn't going to work out well for them any direction they go. Delaying Steam while going forward with in house launch will give the in house players a 1 month headstart. This isn't going to bode well for new steam players come January in a PvP sandbox. I will bet the opening day reviews will reflect as much.

If they are going to delay the game they should do a fresh start when it's ready.

I think the only thing being wiped this week is the infamy scores,  I think they stopped wiping character progression some time ago.

Mmmm, yeah, early access with no more wipes.  That always works out well, especially for new players joining a PvP/player looting game.  What could go wrong?

Good. The game is extremely unstable with rollbacks already. Steam audience would murder it. As far as players being behind on steam launch.. just open up a couple more servers and make it obvious to new players.

I can't wait to join in to this game in 3 months time when they fix all the bugs and older players 1-2 shot you with legendary weapons. But since everyone will quit by then, it will be a deserted world...incoming F2P

If someone was actually waiting for the steam launch instead of buying the game direct, what makes anyone think those people would trust direct purchase now?

Since they decided to wait until the day before to announce this, along with the fact they don't seem to care about giving direct purchasers an advantage is not confidence building.  Personally I will now wait for the steam launch and if it isn't satisfactory I will get my refund and never look back.

I supported this game with a $30 pack purchase and am pretty disappointed in it. Feels like an early beta game.

I'm a long time MMO player. I have to agree with this. The game feels very average. I understand the whole 'going for old skool' style but that doesn't mean that you ignore basic advancements made in games. The combat is very clunky and needs some significant improvement. I'm after that UO style game and I'm sure this can deliver it but they're a LONG way from that yet - I'd say 6-12 months of solid development. Gamers are the most unforgiving people so you only get one chance and delaying for a month for Steam is not really the answer as that's more of a 'holiday period' for the devs than a solid month of development. I've purchased the product but won't be back for at least another 3 months and some monitoring of Steam reviews and MMORPG.com reviews.

Thought I'd try it out, but: "The Legends of Aria purchase page is down as we transition to Early Access products. Thank you for your patience and we'll be back soon!"

could be a decent game if the combat wasn't so fricking tediously slow. It makes FF14 seem like an ARPG I mean even make it realistic speed, but guy swings sword stands there and waits, waits, swings again. Over and over

Supposedly there is going to be a new server at Steam launch, but yeah - the live servers already have houses up and players will be maxed before then.

Explain to me why thats a bad thing ? I say that not in a arrogant way but as someone who has mild interest in this game and doesn't have Legends of Aria entrepreneurial motivation or time. Can i play as a sword for hire/explorer/traveling salesman nobody special type in this game?
