Population Zero is an upcoming open world survival MMO currently in development. Players will be split into multiple colonies and factions, "constantly in conflict with each other for resources, technologies and territories". For whoever is wondering what's the problem with 76.
Compare the design of this game with the design of 76, and it will be clear why 76 tanked so badly.

That's how you design a Multiplayer Survival game.
I don't know if the final product will be any good, but on paper this is a game I want to play.

Kinda reminds me of a mix between No Man's Sky and Dual Universe. Seems promising and certainly worth keeping an eye on. :)

Are these survival games still doing it for people? Thought this was a fad. Not a fan of the genre personally.

Graphically resemble No Man's Sky, let's hope it releases in better shape.

I have to say calling your multiplayer game Population Zero takes some cajones.

Lol that is a proper bit of oxymoron.

Marketing will have fits: Population Zero: come join the thousands who have embarked on a dangerous endeavor to rebuild a hostile world that also somehow has zero people!

Im not chopping another tree or picking one more fucking berry , for at least a year , so tired of this uninspired, unimaginitive , regurgitated Survival shit fests we are being drowned in ...

Bro, if the New World is any indication of what happens to interest in "survival" games, somebody needs to make a survival game where your survival game has to survive the market.

There's something seriously missing from them right now. Maybe they need to start having an overarching goal beyond the surviving and building forts (for somebody else to kick over) thing.

I tried a couple of these survival games, but at the end of the day, they just didn't hold my interest.  I lasted the longest in Rust, but one day I was out hitting barrels with a pickaxe to gather building materials... and I realized that I was just... bored.

Here I was spending my evenings smashing barrels for resources to build a fort that someone on the server was just gonna blow up one day while I'm actually working for a living.

Some people really love it.  I can't drag my fellow gaming buddies away from Rust to save my life, so I've been playing through my single player library in the meantime.

My first thought was, "wow, this looks way better than Fallout 76."

Then, I realized its 2018 and I don't give a shit about the survival genre anymore.

I rather enjoy survival games myself, especially enjoyed ARK, Conan Exiles and 7 Days To Die. The problem is, they are highly dependent on PvP for end game. What we need is a multiplayer Skyrim, an open world sandbox game where PvE is the main focus, except not necessarily an MMO.
Try One Hour, One Life. This is a true 'survival' game.

Try to tag along with your Irish friend to a reunion of 100 Irishmen. That is a true survival game!

Sounds like just another rust or dayz gank fest to me. Any surivival game with pvp ends up just being a gank fest and nothing more. With the exception of fo76 as it has alot of anti-greifer mechanics.

Being a pessimist is a win-win pattern of thinking. If you're a pessimist (I'll admit that I am!) you're either:

    A. Proven right (if something bad happens)

    or

    B. Pleasantly surprised (if something good happens)

Either way, you can't lose! Try it out sometime!
