They're sending out more alpha invites because the people who were "testing" before realized it was hot survival garbage and have all but left.

I saw in a video where there used to be 2 servers and now there's 1, and there's barely more than 25-50 people on it.

I also heard the alpha installer puts the Amazon game launcher in your startup items, which is pretty arrogant.

It's a survival game that essentially forces you into being in a "guild" if you want to do ANYTHING more than roam around in your skivvies cutting down trees and picking up rocks.

Okay, you can progress a bit solo, but not far before you are gated into content that requires cooperation.

The invites are directly tied to the Amazon account which applied for the invitation. There are no places to into any ‘key’. In game, faint watermarks with a specific code are plastered across your screen so that they can identify those who break the NDA.

Not sure the point of lying.

Not lying.  I have the email.  Never installed it. Never accepted any NDA.  So there’s no key.  Big shit.

I must be missing something with everyone wanting to make a survival game. I really think there are enough out there already.

Two well maybe it's 3 things.
1 Invites are most likely sifted to put notable people that can help market their game but they'll put his out there just to further market the game.
2 WHY is their invites, when game goes live your not telling some can join and some can't and besides your NOT properly testing anything when you just select a handful of ,well hand picked people.
3 less importantly,i don't use or go to Facebook, most of those media outlets are degenerate and just looking to cash in on making money with ties to Google adware/cookies.
4 Sorry there is a more important point, this game has less than 2 years of legit development,to pinpoint how long,my guess about 18 months could even only be a year.

Game industry phase. First it was wow clones, then mobas, mobile anything, survival games, and now battle royales. I'd hate to sound 'racist' but thanks to the desperation of the Asian market, all of this stuff has been about money first and development 4th/5th/6th somewhere else. I mean if you look into the first week of PUBG's official launch ( I believe it was), there was already like 2-3 clones of it, followed by mobile versions. There's no rules in the eastern market really.

Not a survival game and it is boring. However, it is an alpha so who knows what it will become. They are trying and seem competent. We shall see.

People were hot for this for about 5 seconds and ONLY because it had "Amazon" in it and that made people think it would have huge monetary backing.

As someone else said they had a massive initial interest then when people saw what it was they all left. Whats it been 3 months or less since the first round of invites went out?

Kind of like a bad movie with huge hype (Aquaman) you have a mass amount of people on the first night then half or less the next night (as word of mouth spreads) then youre playing to empty theaters.

Right now theyre hoping to have some 'cant look away from a car crash' types who just want to see what its like.

Its all or nothing with games these days on all fronts. They either over saturate you with some early access (that you pay top dollar for in most cases) piece of crap that is kept in EA or Alpha or beta or whatever name they want to invent to protect it. Or they spring a title on you and drop it within 2 or 3 days (or sometimes none at all) of actually seeing what it looks like. (again at top dollar).

ESO and GW 2 were the last two games to have a 'standard' release process. Pick a release date. Have a few rounds of tests that were actually tests (and not free previews) and have a fairly stringent invite process.

I remember when everyone and their brother was waiting around their email box when ESO was sending out invites and the rage people had when they didnt get theirs. I guess thats what some of these companies are trying to reinvent. But its not happening.

What are you crazy?  Someone can’t send you an email and bind you to an NDA.   I don’t think you understand what the A in NDA means.

By the way, for the “bros” above.  All I did was “buy” New World as soon as it was announced.  Never signed up for any Alpha.  Never signed any NDA.   Here’s an email from them:

What are you trying to show here. What i get from that email is that you're not invited to the alpha, and that previous email saying you had access to the game was an error.

Amazon's game store/client/whatever has some interesting community standards:  https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=201482650  In 3.3 you give them the rights to fully "broad cast you" and any likeness that you reveal even if you aren't streaming.

Thanks for the good laugh Slapshot. Was much needed on a day I learned I missed a round of invites to a game I think looks intriguing.
