Any bowman worth his salt knows you want light armor, plenty of arrows, a discreet blade, and of course a good solid oak longbow to make a safe and lucrative living. I began my journey in Pyros' Landing with a paltry supply of arrows, fabric garments, and a sorry excuse for a bow - even by Pryos' Landing standards. I was no archer, and yet with little direction to guide my adventure, I took to the desert wasteland outside town for a preliminary hunt.

Nicely written and yes its all about letting yourself become immersed in the game.

Perhaps they should have called it Legends of Mindfulness.

Although I can't explain why, I've been all over the wilderness, spent a ton of time in game, and have not encountered any PvP yet. Hoping to run into someone who wants to fight. Just hasn't happened lol.

I tested the beta a while back and while I thought it had potential there were several things that put me off at the time , there seemed to be a lack of quests , there was no map ( other than the mini map ) so it made it hard to find your way around and there was no way to add a friend because there was no social panel at the time .

I did ask the developers about the map and the social panel ( friends list ) and got a response that they were planning a cartography skill and also planned some sort of way to add friends to a list .

That was earlier this year , I am just wondering in the released version of the game if the number of quests available has improved , whether there is cartography or some sort of area maps now and if there is any sort of social panel ?

Played it for a week at the 7 days prestart (Steam Launch was moved in that period). This is my really short (subjective) review.

The state of the game is that it sort of works, but there is not much finished content, so calling it early access is something you should acknowledge if you join in. They do work exceptionally fast on improvements, for such a small team.

There is something about the game that clicks with me and I did have fun and went crazy hours of what some would call boring crafting and a got a medium size house up too. Adventuring is also pretty fun but it is def not action combat and it is very oldschool, but I guess thats why I liked it.
There are a few things that I find tedious and bad design choices.. such as bag management and horse bags, dismissing horses and that horses dies so easy (much of my money went into replacing horses and their saddle bags when they died).

After 5 days the nasty side showed up .. the gankers. It has been awhile since I played a full pvp game so I thought I was ok with it as long as it was under relative control - It is not with the rules Aria have, and completely in the spirit of UO so I guess it is working as intended. However, it didn't take a lot of getting randomly killed on both my miners and adventurers that I realized, my life is too short to waste on that kind of game. So, with PoE league starting I escaped Legend of Aria.. When someday a pve ruleset server comes and I catch the launch of it (shrug I just like the race of new servers for some reason), I could see myself join in again.. and at that time I bet the game is in a much more finished state.

So in conclusion, Legends of Aria got something special going that is hard to define (positive) and it is oldschool for whatever good and bad that brings, but if you can't deal with free pvp and expect high action and a finished game, then wait.

game looks like crap, cant even watch twitch since its a boring grindfest. I watched Gm arena event, i felt like i was in the year 2000. UO looks and plays much better than this with more skills and mobs etc...

Haven’t been attacked yet on Verdant server. Most of my time has been spent in the large swath of land in the safe areas. This includes the Corruption dungeon. I’m sure I’ll venture out eventually.

Worst situation so far was a friend dying in the dungeon and to mobs and then getting looted by another player which we could not attack... That’s why I hate these flag things.

If you want to die just play on Azure Sky, there is PVP all the time.

I bought this and played it for a few weeks and it's slow af and overall boring but that's just my opiinion. I had a much better time in UO!

Yes it's full drop loot when you die - for the person asking and Jordan you did a good job in selling the game but it's still boring af.

The reason is - the game is not very populated.

It goes up on steam in about 3 weeks - hopefully that bumps up the CCU from low triple digits they have now.

I am now playing on the EU server and honestly, I cannot imagine the game with a significantly higher population.

It already feels crowded. There are a few hunting zones around the starting town (graveyard, bandit camp, etc.), but they are so small that even 1-2 players can fully deplete the monsters there. Hard to imagine how it would look like with hundreds or even thousands of players.

Not sure how it looks like in the "higher level areas". Maybe it gets better.

Those starting areas were really designed when you had zero skills.  Now you can spend 2 silver to get almost any skill (except lockpicking?) to 30.  That’s why 1-2 people are crushing the camps.  It’s not a bad way to grind cash if you have it to yourself but if you move out a bit you will be well off. Also there are missions you can sign up for.

Yeah.  I guess my point is that if a few people stick around and kill stuff then it becomes far less beneficial for that guy to stay there as there’s more lucrative spots.  Remember,  first hit gets the loot and that’s all he’s after.

I think most damage gets the loot? And I think you can loot others kills you take a karma hit though.

I can't stand the way the UI works. I don't care about the look, or the backpack, I dislike that it's so hit or miss when right clicking, or left clicking. I try and try again just to loot a mob I kill. When, or if, I get the satellite window to open, 1/4th the time the UI doesn't understand what I click and and I take off running. Lag is bad and I have settings set to very low. I want to play this game, but it's so frustrating right now I don't.

Not on the EU server. Whoever deals most damage gets the loot.
Correct, there is no tagging. Most damage gets the kill, and the killsteal is real because of very little content for too many players.
