PvP is such a deterrent to me when investing any real money into a game & aside from all EVE's beautiful graphics & fun game play the PvP aspect reigns as should it be since designed that way. Playing a game should be fun. Having something I've invested time & $ into taken away isn't fun. If there was a PvE version of this then probably would invest, but then again, I suppose it wouldn't be the EVE that was envisioned neither.

You can have a job and play EVE just fine. So, this is the awkward part,  but I think you know what to do.

    ...what game doesn't?

Besides, question never was how much time it takes to become 'really good' but whether you can play EVE casually and you certainly can. Most EVE players are casuals, like in any other game...

EVE is less about how many hours you play per day and more about how many days you have
    invested in the game.

And there's no game that you have to play 16 hours a day to become really good.
