My newfound love - eve online

DowieDowie Member Posts: 280
Well to go against all the threads on this forum, i must say eve is really the mmorpg i've been looking for since i left DAOC. I have played this for a several trials and finaly bought it, i must say t just keeps getting better and better the more i play it. This game really is a living and breathing world.

So why am i typing this... Well i have seen all the hate threads about this game on this forum, just wanted to tell you try it out of you are looking for a truly massive game. It's worth a try i promise you :)

The hate is from all the people who didnt "get" Eve becuase Eve was made for a very specific type of player. Thats why there arent that many people playing it ( although 100K active subs isnt a small number either ).

A word of caution, if u solo, make sure you have backup funds to buy a ship if you get blown to pieces by a rat or a pirate. Insurance doesnt cover everything, and the best insurance cost a lot. I made that mistake once, and started back with the startup-frigate for another day becuase i lost everything in that ... "accident".

I am the type of player where I like to do everything and anything from time to time.

It took me the second trial to get into the game. The first time I played I was skeptical and really didn't give the game much of a shot. CCP imagination really shines when you see the game for what it is. Can't you envision 300 years in the future to be something like EVE?

As far as the hate threads go, one particular poster pulled many up from the past. Notice that almost all the threads on the first page start with negative comments from the OP in those threads. Is there a message trying to be portrayed here?  hmmmm......

    It's an awesome game.

You need a great corp to really enjoy it.

If you enjoy pvp and team oriented play, there is nothing out there that even comes close.

My question is to the flaming troll who serves as an attempt to bash a great game they have no comprehension of:

Mr Static_wolf, are you saying that the "only" thing you can do in EVE is direct combat PvP agasint other players without any option to do anything else?

If that's the case what would you say about the market, production and manfacturing, hunting rats (NPCs), running complexes (EVE's amazing version of a dungeon), or running agent missions for that special naval version of a battleship?

    Your serious?

I made 100 million ISK in one week using the market system, I designed a nice route that required me to have different industrial ships parked all around, that's basically all I was into, but the fun stopped after a week.

Hunting rats is not bad, but after the 5th kill there's really no more fun left, especially if your not dog fighting, it's nice and techy to be able to fire on targets using the missile system, I dunno tho, how long can you keep on doing this for?

Agent Missions are pathetic and repetitive to say the least, and running complex? What is that?

Pity these are the only things that can be done in such a vast universe. Wake us up when they add content, thx.

Sorry if I don't recall, how long had you been playing for?  Can you post the months and the year you played in?  I'm simply trying to get an understanding of how you've come to this. ;)

Repetative missions? (missions become more dynamic once you pass the 1st lvl agent and continue to do so.)

No knowledge what a complex is? (being that you enter complexes on a regualr basis unless you only do minnign 100% of the time I fail to understand how you do not know what this is.)

Dog fighting: you're into twitch based games.  'nuff said there.

You designed a route that required you to have "different industrial ships parked all around" and "that's basically all" you did?  Honestly, doing nothing but jumping and switching to various industiral ships then rinse & repeating does _not_ sound like fun.  I've never done that.  I do occasionally use an industirial although it's normally to move my reprocessed materials.

    Help me understand your pleight.

Explain in quick details a decent level 3 Agent mission that doesnt involve killing wandering ships (In the same manner) or delivering something.

Complexes were introduced in 2004 with the Exodus Expansion. They are a regular sight for those who do any kind of 'PVE'. There are literally hundreds of them all over the universe, with more being added every patch. In addition of providing much more structured npc encounters, they are also sources of rarer faction items. There are also entire constellations of dozens of complexes and other areas (Deadspace) that provide story based missions and unique experiences (the COSMOS constellations).

Its quite evident that you have no clue what the current state of the game is. The Exodus expansion was the most feature dense release for EVE yet, and since then the THREE OTHER EXPANSIONS have revamped a vast majority of the game.

They've been doing that for the past TWO YEARS since you've been away, but you don't care. Either actually try to take a look at the game, or leave. There is no point in you being here.

Yeah static is one of those that are probably getting their panties in a bunch over EVE's rating on this site. Seems like we pick a new one up every day. They troll get flamed break the rules of the community get a post deleted and leave. Unfortunatly Static here threw a massive temper tantrum instead when his post got deleted so we will probably be stuck with him until he figures out what his next crusade will be.

Well if you consider market and industry to be PVP then yeah.

You could always go to a complex and kill rats.

Well now I know why you sound like a broken record with your arguments, you don't understand half the stuff we're talking about cause it wasn't around when you played the game, 2 YEARS AGO.

    Ignorance is soooo funny sometimes.

Please Static_Wolf. Unless you have played a game within 9 months DO NOT EVER POST ON IT! Specially a game like Eve.. *points to exodus, then RMR then Kahli* you need to look at the things that have been introduced. Oh and I guranttee I didn't know about Eve when you played it. Sorry I didn't start playing until 2004, took a year break and started again 2006.

So Static, without me posting a 500 word essay about how stupid your arguments, and the lack of knowledge about the game you have. Answer me this.

    Why Do You Care?

Same here. I've got trial account from two years ago I think. And I didn't like it because it looks complicated and the tutorial is just pain in the ass. However, I tried it again three weeks ago, and I like it. It offers something unique and new.
