Do the training missions... Those helped me a lot. I just started but I'm sort of getting the hang of how some of this works.

And just accept getting killed a lot by guns you don't recognize, or having your flesh roasted off by plasma from an unknown source. I'm happier this way, myself. Theres time enough to learn.

One thing to NOT accept is Stealthers wtfpwning you, this drove nuts. Now, I may be wrong but I believe they mostly use Combat Engineering. There is one device that magically turns into mines and turrets when you have combat engineering. It ALSO turns into the ninja wtfpwn-er device. Basically a remote detonated charge that the guy in the infiltration suit plants near you (or on you for all I know). Then he runs away and triggers it, which pretty much kills you if you're not in one of those big MAX suits or otherwise protected.

You're automatically offered the chance to start the training missions when you create a new character. otherwise, go into the character screen (i think the default is 't' now - somewhere on the right hand side of that top row), select the Training tab from the top, then double-click on any of the highlighted missions to start. most of them have to be done in sanc, but some need to be done in the VR training, and some can be done anywhere, and some require that you've already done one of the others - it's all explained in the discription though.

    Boomers! joy :)
They make a very distinctive little beep when they're placed, along with that little brown fountain effect, then it takes two or three seconds before they can be detonated. also, they must be placed on cenery, not people - if you start running when you hear the boomer being placed, you might be lucky. Don't know if i'd recommend it as someone's ONLY implant (there are so many useful ones to choose from), but Darklight is very useful. I've seen cloakers sit perfectly still and invisible in the middle of a corridor full of evemies for five minuites, waiting for a quiet moment.

it helps a lot if you can recognise by sound the weapons someone's trying to use against you. an MCG requires a different response that a Cycler does, and it makes a difference wether those are Vanguard or Lightning shells arcing overhead.

It's not funny, it's not clever, and it WILL break if you play with it.
