Postulating about a product that hasn't even been announced yet? If it's created by the self same team, it will be another debacle anyway!

    Here's my top 5 list:

    1. Sharded shared areas that don't include quests, just farmable mobs and events. This would encourage grouping and make it easier to hook up with people for groups, provide some areas to farm with some events. No fixed loot tables, just random as things have always been.

    2. I like seasons, but I don't like having to recreate a character each season from the ground up and having it take up a character slot when the season is over. I would like the ability to have a single seasonal character (or hardcore version) that can roll over to the next season to get season specific cosmetic items and gear. Maybe make the gear/gold limited duration (but you keep the transmog) to ensure characters have to start over with basic equipment and gold.

    3. Variable goals of rift and greater rift runs. There are "speed runs", but no technical runs like least mobs killed, shortest path, least deaths, biggest single hit, most mobs hit at once, etc. Would be cool to have each type of run be on a random rotation kind of like affixes in WoW mythics. That way, you aren't always going for the build with the highest mobility and would add some variability to the game.

    4. Weekly random mob types that spawn during rift and greater rift runs. The weekly mob type can be anything and should be reasonably difficult based on player level. Add a little more variability to the game.

    5. Class variability. We are working in close relation to a D&D themed game, but lack the ability to diverge into different archetypes. Wouldn't it be cool if there were subtypes? Like a Knight (Barbarian), an artificer (building stuff as primary damage, Demon Hunter), and other similar.

    1. Player created games / List of joinable games

    2. Ability to trade items again, get rid of this soulbound shit that they brought over from WoW. Trading was a huge part of Diablo.

    3. Bring back the old chat rooms on battlenet, the old version still shits over the new one when it comes to the chat interface.

Though with how games are going we'll probably end up with a gender-fluid Diablo and a Barbarian that identifies as an Amazon.

You missed the most important thing, trading and economy. The reason Diablo 3 is dead. while Diablo 2 and PoE are still played so much.

Not sure they are real factors, for me at least PoE is more fun to play, whatever trading or economy there might be, i have yet to experience, in PoE at least i didn't even know there was one!  :p

I just want it to go away. We all know what will happen, it will be a watered down grind-fest with a crap story, and probably loot boxes. They will add PVP and a battle royal, in turn they will take away from the PVE. They will do what every modern game does and sacrifice being a Unique, Quality game at the alter of greed. of course maybe it will be great, I am not hopeful...

M_oar rng, no personalized loot, no scaling, auction system. But whatever, wishing for anything for diablo4 is a futile exercise.

Yeah, no. I don't play ARPGs to be the trader cornering the market on high ticket items and I sure don't play them to be the "Moisture Vaporator farmer" on Tatooine. I didn't even pick D3 up until they got rid of that ridiculous RMAH, so that kind of stuff is a generally a deal breaker for me. Trading in online games has too much real money involved and I don't like that.

PS: Diablo 3 has sold about 5 times as many copies as Diablo 2.
The only reason people (incorrectly) think Diablo 3 is dead player wise is that most people play ARPGs single player. Path of Exile forces players to encounter one another in towns, so you get an idea of the scale involved.

D3 is pretty much fucking alive on PS4. Match making and replacements are instant at every hour of the day at all levels.

Much more important than what is IN the game is what is NOT in the game.  In this case that needs to be: A Phone

Can we bring back the randomness of shrines, i liked how in D1 i could suicide by shrine when i take a chance and get a horde of skeletons/ zombies or a cool buff. was a nice risk/reward system that noone seems to remember.

So basically you want Lost Ark with a diablo skin and "blizzard" polishing touch. I want it too :D

Let me tell you Lost Ark Online is AMAZING....Say what you want but that is what I would be looking for from a Diablo MMO something akin to the graphics, playstyle, and story of Lost Ark Online.....

    1) Yeah, that would be cool.
    2) As long as my single player character's skills and abilities are not based on PVP. Also, PvP is purely optional and never forced upon people who don't want it. No special gear progression only available through PvP or special content not available otherwise.
    3) Yes
    4) Seems like fun

At the moment, Diablo 4 would have to be an improvement on Path of Exile for me to even give it a second glance, i am not sure Activision can do that. :/

I'm pretty sure they can develop a better engine, better networking, better graphics, and better animations than PoE... and without an obsession on redoing a massive grind every few moths and a design that makes the base [standard] league literally worthless for anyone to play (so no use playing PoE if you aren't going to be league chasing).

PoE has some good points, but to me it is not a great execution; and it's off limits to casuals... which is a lot of our friends... Multi player games aren't that fun when you can't get your friends to play with you.

I got over calling "strangers" and "randoms" on the internet "friends" when I was playing EverQuest. Doesn't work that way for many of us these days :-P What Blizzard needs is "World of Diablo," but I honestly think they are pretty much done with the MMORPG market - keeping WoW around only because it's popular and still making them lots of money.
