We have received word from the team behind The Repopulation that the game will be brought down later today to bring a large new patch on board. The update brings a number of tweaks to the combat system into the game as well as performance improvements and two completely rebuilt areas. The letter also goes into detail about what the team has accomplished in 2018 and what it is currently working on and what is planned as we head into 2019.

Completely forgot about this game. I truly thought it closed down. Is it only available through steam?

Not really, it's not developed by the original team anymore. The company that created the Hero Engine bought the game and are the ones working on it now a days.

I wonder if the creators of the hero engine have figured how that they made a horrible engine yet...

Makes me wish that company would have finished Hero's Journey instead of investing in this......

Now there is a game I have not thought of in about 12 yrs but was high on it when it was in development.

Actually, Hero's Journey was developed by Simutronics and not Idea Fabrik or IF Studio. But it would be nice to see that game finished some day. Never know.

Backed them twice, logged in twice. My account got lost during the transfer and I just can’t be arsed to recover it.

It might not be lost anymore. Because I couldn't login after the transfer but then tried again in a few months and it was working. So maybe it was a temporary problem.

Ohh thats nice to hear. Unfortunately my ‘can’t be arsed’ isn’t temporary, I’ve got way too much quality games to even consider downloading it.

I usually go back and check it out whenever they have an update announcement like this one. It is getting better, s-l-o-w-l-y...

Holy cow. Maybe I should redownload it? I think I played it once back in the day then waited for it to get to a good state and it shut down. Is it worth giving a shot?

Honestly I had so high expectations for this one years ago. It had some new and interesting ideas. It's also the last game that kinda made me realize that I shouldn't support kickstarters/early access games.
I was really happy when they announced that the game has new owners and I'm actually pleasantly surprised that they are working on it. Might give it a go when I have nothing to do.
I'd love it if the game somehow manages to get to release. It has potential(at least it used to) and honestly with the current state of the mmorpgs at the moment it just might do good.
