Chances are that if you're looking at this poll you're one of three people: 1) people who play it and love it, 2) people who don't play it, but are curious about it, or 3) people who play other MMORPGs and come here to bash AA because it is currently rated higher than their game on the front page.
I don't think the other group, people who played it but don't care for it, hang around the AA forum very much in order to talk about a game they didn't like.
As far as MMOs go, I played UO, DAoC and WoW for a serious amount of time. I have tried Guild Wars, SWG, DDO, and countless others.
Auto Assault was an instant hit with me. I am still in the 14 day trial, but I am going out to buy this one. After a 1.5 year WoW grind, this game is such a great change of pace. I don't miss WoW one bit. AA has it all! Fast paced, action packed action complete with vehicular man slaughter!!
Seriously, this game is very well done. My only complaint is the player crafting system is a little hard to understand, and not very intuitive. But, if you are a fan of Mad Max and post-apocalyptic mayhem, you must try this. If you are not sure still, find a friend and used the 14 day trial included with the game. That is exactly how I was hooked. I predict the same will happen to you. See you on the highway!!!!
Wow is this game that good? I was in closed beta awhile ago and the game did not really float my boat but after reading all of these excellent reviews I just might have to give it a try again. I know alot has changed since I played it and I am sick of wow, GW, DDO already lol
I was very skeptical when I picked up AA. I just can't believe how FUN it is - I mean the action is so fast paced. Nothing beats being in a convoy and going to a scav city - and then seeing the mass destruction as everyone unleashes hell upon their enemies.
Def. reccomend it. Even if you can only log in for 30 minutes, thats time enough to do 2-3 quests and kill a few mobs and get 50 odd drops. Very fun for me as a casual solo player
Biggest thing is, people see the title, and think how could drving around in a car all day be fun?? Hopefully after more people hear about it during and after E3, the populations on the sever skyrockets. AA is a game that it is a very competitive industry right now. Theres just so many other MMO's to choose from. But I see a bright future for AA.

Just got it and its an amazingly naice game.So why the low population?
Well to be a big hit nowadays is a simple equation.
Brand name +(tried ,copied and polished content + easy start +good marketting )= loads of $$$$$
Its a crying shame and shows the direction that a game like AA should not be an instant hit but hey thats the way the market flows.
I guess if you wanna make a huge success best bet is save the money on thinking up new ideas.Get some brand name .Play every mmorpg that actually bothered to think up of new ideas out there. Then do the incredibly hard job of polishing on it /sacrasm off, toss loads of copies on reviewers whose previous mmorpg experience was they saw a booth for DAoC once at E3.And there you go money galore!
Sorry i sound annoyed but its really sad to see a mmorpg with a fresh idea and theme, actually fun to play and in a good state struggle .I smell the death of new ideas in mmorpg sadly.
I'm not so pessimistic. I think they'll start doing free trials as soon as they get the polish in that it needs. Once people see a polished, fun game AND get to try it out first, I'm sure the population will explode. The vast majority of the people that pick this game up simply love it. Getting people to give it a chance is the hard part.
I was not very excited about AA when it was released. I had played it before and it seemed to me to be just another driving game in a multiplayer persistent world. Of course, I was only playing a demo that showed the driving mechanics, but I just didn't see much for this game.
I missed the big picture in a huge way.
My brother convinced me to give AA a try, even going so far as to buy me the game on the promise that I would pay him back if I stuck with it. I paid him back before the trial was up. It's been a long time since I was just completely swept up in a game right from the outset. With so many MMOs, you have to kill snakes and rats for a week before you get any good weapons or loot, but in AA you start out right in the action.
I recommend it highly. There are a people who will come here bashing it, but no game is going to appeal to everyone and MMOs in particular draw both rabid fans and vehement opponents. Try it for yourself. It's a blast!

I'm still amazed at how empty the servers are for AA. All are still reading "very low", and in cruising around Proving Grounds and Tocado just a while ago I came across one player ... only one. Amazingly empty.
I do think that this game appeals to some people, but I think it is really a niche game. There's nothing wrong with that in itself, but the question is whether the development budget for this one that has to be recouped can stand being a niche game, and for how long.

Well, couple of things: 1) it's early in the day. Most people in the U.S. are at work or school, 2) most people level out of the newbie area in about two hours. The highway is much more crowded, 3) the population is split among three different factions, none of whom can see the others except in the pvp zone, and 4) the population is further split among four servers - it should have been two, like Anarchy Online.
When I'm on, I frequently see other people on the highway and in the cities. My clan is also pretty active and talkative, so I never get that lonely feeling. Being in a clan helps immensely.

Just wanted to say thanks to every one has voted. I also think this game kicks ass.

Are all teh servers well populated?
How is the PVP in this game?
Pure greatness
Even though some reviews have not been kind to this game and there are not yet enough players, I would still recommend it.
Unless of course you don't like high-speed, ultra-violent, destructive "Mad Max-style" vehicular combat. Heh. But you know you DO like that.
