Yea, but FilePlanet decided to do what they do with all their recent trials and make it [Subscriber Only] to get a key.  I have a feeling in a few days it will be completely free, and this is just another FP tactic to milk some money out of people.

Fileplanet is about 5 dollars a mont, why do people trash it when they have to still pay up to 20 a month for montly mmorpg subscribtions?

Hell,,, My family pays over 80 dollars a month on mmorpg subscribtions...

People are mad because it is a FREE trial, not a $5/month trial. It's a cheap tactic to get money by FP, but an expected one.
Oh and good for you, most people don't have an extra $80 a month to spend on videogames.

I'd gladly pay the 5$ if I get the full 30 day trial. I'm not going to pay 5$ for a product I can't even keep, because I still have to buy a keycode after the trial.

Fileplant subscribers only, that's not expensive but it's not free either.

New update from the Almighty Walrus:

    And the Walrus said:

Confirmed: The free trial is only an exclusive for FilePlanet
subscribers for the first two days. Then it is open to everyone with a
    free FilePlanet account.

You gotta pay money to another party (Fileplanet, of which I have absolutely no need of) in order to play the so-called free trial.

    Lame.  Lame lame lame.

I'd love to try out MxO, but have no intention of subscribing to a website I will never use, in order to do it.

    This is a Not-So-Free Trial.

Stupid choice to go through Fileplanet.

I play alot of dffrent games so fileplanet was very helpful to have...big time on patch day because i wait times and overload bull.  but i only paid 30 bucks for a year of filelplanet so its' like 2.50 amonth.  people need to look at what other payment options are there so you can save money.  many other things do this aswell you should start checking into things a little more

    Mom!  Hi!

You should know already that patch days have never been a problem for me, and that most of the content on Fileplanet can be found for completely free elsewhere.  And that $2.50 per month means I can talk to you just a little bit longer with my long distance plan...

The part that got me edgy, is that they're advertising everywhere that it's a FREE TRIAL... with absolutely no mention of the need to subscribe/pay for a third party service...

    Hope you're well mom.

Well....  As of 8:20am Est.  It's still subscriber only.

SOE knows what you like... You don't!
And don't forget... I am forcing you to read this!

JFYI: You do not have to pay fileplanet to get the trial.  It's a "member exclusive" for 2 or 3 days then they'll open it up to the freeloader.... err I mean the free members.  That's how Fileplanet runs all their free trials.  They open it up to those members who enjoy the service enough to pay a fee (wow, a whopping $3 a month) before they give access to the freeload..err sorry the free members.

That said. you aren't missing much.  I downloaded it last night and it only took me 2 hours to delete the game from my system.

    Damn!   That bad???

I know about the trial.  As Walrus said, it was supposed to be for the first 2 days, subscription only.  It's been 2 days today.  Perhaps later.

By the way Elnator, did you get into AA?

Not yet :(  Nobody I know bought it so I haven't managed to score a trial access code.  Got one? :)

Matrix isn't so much 'bad' as it is.... 'boring'... it really doesn't offer you much to do.   Could just be me... I hated the movies so it doesn't surprise me that the game is a yawner for me.  But yeah the combat interface is clunky and the rest of the game doesn't feel much better.   SOE has improved things over what it was like in Beta when WB was running the show but they still have a long way to go to make this thing worth a monthly fee.  A very long way.

My intention was to ask you for one!  hehehehe

I tried MxO back when it was released and I was dissapointed.  But I am itching for another game right now and I am beyond sick of fantasy games, so I wanted to give MxO another try.

Almost 10am PST still no trial for us cheap freeloaders... ;)

Incidentally, 3 bucks a month may be accurate, however ya gotta pay the whole year at once for Fileplanet.  And I'm not about to shell out the cost of the actual game in order to play the trial.

I've got AA, and play it quite alot.  The combat is fast and frenetic, tons of quests, wicked graphics, lots of weather effects, sweet crafting system...

There's a couple of things missing at the moment, the prime one being an "Auction House" and the Looking For Group system needs work.  They're fixing a whole ton of stuff in the first big patch, which should arrive in a week or two.  So if you wanna give the trial a go, I'd wait until the patch hits so you get to drive round in a much more finished product.  Just my opinion...

Anywho.  Gonna keep checkin in on the MxO trial and if it becomes truly free, I'll post up here for ya guys...

    cheers,
    StarkReality

Fileplanet has opened it for all accounts now.

  • vashwolfvashwolf Member Posts: 4

Every time I submit my info for a trail key it sends me to a page that says its subscibers only. Anybody else haveing this, pretty sure its still in the process of being switched over to everbody but I been trying since they said it was "free" to everybody.

edit: Lol nevermind finaly came through.

I took issue with the fact they left this important fact from the two major press releases on the "FREE" trial.

People wonder why I have a low opinion of MxO and the SOE team ...
