The Atlas site has been updated with a new post from the dev team called "The Golden Age of Piracy" that speaks to community feedback on the game being "tailored to large companies, alpha groups, and hardcore players" rather than to smaller groups or individuals. The team is committed to working with the community to "make the game less punishing and reduce the steep climb required for players to reach the parts of the game which make it special".

I all together quit because of that. I really hope they deliver on that

Great features for a great MMO! YAY! :P
They already have made some really dumb changes and i see problems with some of these incoming as well.In otherwords fixing one problem but creating two more does not sit well with me and looks like nobody is THINKING first before implementing.
I will comment on one idea that shows this team doesn't THINK.Ok so you can handcuff a prisoner, fun, immersive?Yeah for ONE SIDE,for the other,i think i can speak for everyone in saying,i don't login to do NOTHING but be handcuffed.
So people complaining about ships being sunk because players are over weighting them,so what does Wildcard do,they make it so if you even touch their ships you are stuck floating in air and can't do anything. So you think it is as easy as just avoid touching other ships?Well someone made a point of it and spawned about 50 noob ships at the freeport to clutter the entire area. You can't do anything to people and their ships in Freeport area.
IMO the EASIEST fix and a lot of the game needs it is to LIMIT a lot of ideas.Like ONE claim flag per player,ONE small ship ,one large ship per player, building anywhere but if not on claimed land it simply decays really fast, like maybe 30 minutes. That way people don't complain to me that i am cluttering up land by building traps,i can simply say"don't worry"it'll be gone in 30.
Cater more to solo??IMO and typical of most games, only the very tough bosses need to be toned down,we don't need any NON immersive END GAME crap in this game.I don't want to start hearing about RAIDS and scaling for soloers, just make elite Bosses more doable.

This is actually a good move unless they want the mmo to remain a niche game like Darkfall and the like. At this point I am ready to go to a private server, will see if this makes it worth staying on official first though.
I love this quote honestly. It perfectly illustrates why I never got in to Dickens.

Staged. To be honest though I cant even be mad at them because its industry standard to stage screenshots for advertisement.
Between the character creation and the imaginations of the trolls who play this game it looks hacked out the box. I think everything might be working as intended.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I mean its pretty common sense and can use some historical context to justify it.
Its a perfect time to implement some major league changes and do a complete wipe, as well as start a wipe schedule. Because the population numbers have cratered. Getting under 10K people during 'downtime' and are barely breaking 30K even on the weekends. Most if not all the streamers have either quit or gone to RP servers so official servers have been opened up.
Not sure about 'the Chinese', but I havent seen any of them stream in awhile either. I suspect theyre gone too since the over night numbers are so low.
But first and foremost they have to fix the hacks and the cheats. Which with these guys isnt a given.
Two things annoy me to hell with Ark-like games
1. You stay in world when logged out - at mercy of gankers and rampant AI
13 000 yesterday
11 000 today
This is total from official and unofficial servers!
SotA would kill for such figures, in fact so would a lot of games out there.

The problem is they promote everyone as "pirates" and totally ignore everything else from that era.
And it is becoming glaringly obvious they wont do a wipe, probably dont want to lose all their hardcore mega clans who would get mad and leave because they had to start over. The its EA defense only seems to apply to certain parts of the game.
Not true this is early access they will wipe in the end like they did in Arkh
