The Legends of Aria team has been doing their best to navigate a firestorm of controversy surrounding a since-scrapped item many feared would be the beginning of a slippery slope toward “pay-to-win” territory. Project Lead Derek Brinkmann was gracious enough to lend me some time to discuss the latest update and the events of the day.

Buisness model is again the most important thing in any online game

Same goes for Torchlight: Frontier, they lost their momentum the day they announced the content of their cash shop

People only want skins, is this hard to understand ?

There is only one kind of "ward evil" that works..
Pve only servers or pernanent pvp flagging per character.
That is what it takes to get me back, nothing else...and hopefully some special ruleset "shard" will deliver on that someday.

If people are willing to play a game that rewards deep pockets more than actual gameplay skill, more power to them. Personally, I'm annoyed when even the cosmetic options are locked behind paywalls and will avoid these kind of games as much as possible.

Sadly this means the game is doomed.

It is a game developed by 2-3 people, that had main idea for people to be able to open their own servers.

But lately I just see that they can not cope. They simply can not give enough content with such small team.

    Now cosmetics ?

Adding cosmetics means that same are removed from game. Making all people look same so that they would feel need to buy cosmetics.

All this in B2P game ? If it was F2P it would not mean nothing. But like this, it means that B2P nature of the game is or will not be enough to sustain them.

And all this before the game even left early access

If thegame gets to a full release I'll hop in.. I'm a bit bored of early access nowa days but I do love the idea and style of the game.

They removed the P2W so cosmetics is fine with me like PoE. I was not opposed to the P2W cause the grind may put some people off which hurts the game cause fewer players in an MMO sucks but w/e.

There also needs to be some type of ongoing revenue stream so not selling anything means the game is 100% doomed cause just btp cash is not enough.

But its not early access. People use that as an excuse for how crappy the game is.

The truth is that they will not be wiping the servers when the game leaves so called EA when it hits steam.

So they can call it early access, beta or alpha omega omicron theta but its in full release as it stands now.

They are abusing the EA title so they dont have to take accountability for this trashcan they released while also suckering people in who think they are getting a preview of some sort.

No server wipes in a UO style sandbox pvp game is not a game in EA.

When steam players hop in they will find an established server with the bulk of the player base being GM and having to contend with gankers left right and center months ahead of where they are.
