my two cents (read for trial)

I have been an avid reader of mmorpg.com for several years now, I have never made a login name until this game came out. I just want to let people know how great of a game this really is. I have played nearly every big name mmo to hit the streets in the last 8 years so my standards are high. When I first saw auto assault I thought it looked like a lame arcade style game. I cant stress how far from that it really is. There are many other posts out there that say basically the same thing, I just wanted to do my part in persuading people to try this out. The only downfall of the game as it is, is the lack of players. Please play this game and tell your friends!

If anyone would like to test this game please email me at mcc05j@garnet.acns.fsu.edu and I will send you a trial code.

Haha!  I played beta on this game, lasted a few hours before I just couldnt play it anymore ya it was fun right out of the gate..but cmon its an mmog archade game :P

but i guess paying the monthly fee would be cheaper then going to the archade :P

they should only offer a 2 day trial - any longer then that you wont wanna play it anymore -- so 2 days people would be like..ya fun game ill buy it!  pay there money play a few more days and find something else

Hi, and welcome to the boards!  I see that you registered today and one of your first posts is to bash this game.  That's cool, of course, we're all entitled to our opinions, but I just want to say one thing:  the game changed A LOT over the course of the beta.  I have said this about 50 times on this board, but I *hated* the game when I first got in beta.  I deleted it off my hard drive because of the exact reason you stated:  it reminded me of an arcade game.  That was back around August-November of last year.  Since that time, they enhanced the skill usefulness and slowed down combat.  To me, it now plays like any other MMORPG... with the exception that I also have to worry about my and my opponent's positioning.

The game offers a lot of character customization - far more than in a game like WoW.  You can alter your character's attributes, your entire vehicle, your vehicle's specific parts, and you have four different skill paths you can develop special skills from to enhance your character and/or combat.  On top of that, it has one of the most in-depth crafting system's I've ever seen... and I've seen almost all of them.

I see that you said you only played the game a few hours.  I would suggest trying it again before judging it so harshly... and certainly for more than a few hours.  That said, if you don't like non-"sandbox" MMORPGs, then don't bother.  This game is basically WoW with a much better combat system and lore.

Ok, how are you granted the ability to give away trial's?

    Dev?, GM maybe?

I still dont see it, perhaps your right.. but something is wrong if a game thats only been out a few months is already offering a trial - bad sign games not immersive enough..

I think CO will blow this game out of the water - I checked out Tatsits site think its going to be pretty good besides im a PVP freak too...

Oh, I been around for years.. playing mmorpgs - just never registered before - but trapped at work have nothing better to do so here i am :D

    1)  They're not offering free trials.  What they are offering is a buddy code that comes in the box.  Every MMORPG does this.  What people are doing on this board is giving away their buddy codes to those that want them because they love this game and want others to experience it too.

    2)  I don't know what CO is, so I can't comment on whether it will blow this game out of the water or not.  All I know is that I really like this game.  If something better comes out, sure, I'll play that too.  But in the meantime, this game is perfect for me.  And as a self-described "pvp-freak," I'm kind of surprised you wrote off AA so quickly.  AA has an incredible pvp portion of the game.  Couple that with the fast and engaging combat, and it would seem like the perfect game for a pvp-freak.

    3)  Well, again, welcome to the boards!  I still wish that one of your firsts posts wasn't about bashing a game that you only played in beta and for only a few hours, but, like I said, we're all entitled to our opinions.  If it's been a while since you played the game (over a couple of months), I'd strongly urge you to give it another try.  I heard the good word from people who were playing it as it got closer to release and decided to re-download it and give it another shot.  I'm *so* glad I did.

Its hard to see how you can think that CO will blow this game out of the water considering that there aren't even a screenshot posted on their website.

If you are looking for a free ride to post some shamelss plug on a board, by all means. Say something like "hey, there is another post-apocolyptic game coming out so check it out..." But dun dis a game to plug another dude.

So I am thinking, you havn't played retail AA, guess thats why you missed out the buddy code in the package that people are giving out on the boards. Which by the way, does not qualify you to say anything about the AA right now.

Giving out trial codes is a normal marketing tactic used for MMORPG. In fact, it is one of the most effective and used by most MMORPG publishers. Lets hope by your logic, CO won't be giving out trial codes during the start of the game, otherwise, it might spell DOOM DOOM DOOM for the game too.

Well the concept alone is better by far,  in AA your stuck in your car as your avitar unless your in a city - and like I said I did not play retail - i played the beta for AA

give buddy trial codes i know.. but it was not what it was sounding like - it sounded like the game was giving open trail keys to people  because the population was down -- but from several friends that i know who play said that the population isnt as good as it was right after release -- they like the game..but they also spend a lot of time at the archade too.. im more for indepth experiance, I played AC1 -2 for years and years - Also played DoAC - EQ was ok - WoW and several others not worth listing...

AA at least from the beta lacks a few things that I found important in the games - that especially AC1 and 2 had on the pvp servers - the only two games that I have seen out there in development right now that seem to be getting it right is Darkfall and Conflict Omega -- but neither are out yet :(    right now im gameless because AC is outdated, WoW is boring - well they are all old - so :P

Maybe Ill visit my friend and give AA one more shot but I wasnt impressed in beta - it seems AA is a game you either love or hate :P

After reading the reviews during beta I decided to skip this game.   Day the game released, I visit the board and read all these great reviews and the game rating jumped to 8.4.  I decided to buy the game that afternoon and give it a try.

At first glance the game looked very good and I enjoyed creating my avatar even if it was a bit limiting.  I jumped into my car and hit the road... The interface was easy to understand and I was in the game in no time, checking out the environment and destroying everything in my path.

I decided to give a few missions a try.   Found a town, picked up a mission and followed the green arrow on my screen.   Once complete I followed the green arrow back to recieve my reward.

After a weekend of doing just these few things, I asked myself, what is the point of this game?  It was fun for a few days and that is my take.  I haven't logged in since.

hmmm sounds like you limited your own gameplay rather than the game setting the limits.

    1.  The missions are handed out long before you are even near a town so I am not sure why you waited until hitting town to snag a mission or 2 to try.

    2.  The Character creation is limiting if you have played CoH/V at all however in comparrison to other games like EQ2 and WoW it's, better.

    3. If the game seemed to trivial and easy to you, try turning off way points for missions and then attempt completing them.

    4. If a few contact missions are all you even did in the game and only in the first town, you missed a whole lot of content including the very deep crafting system as well as exploring the enviroment.

    5. I can honestly say I am glad that the game has been able to weed out certain types of people; my own friends included.  If you can honestly play a game for less than 10 levels and then post a negative review about the game with less than say 3 days and a few hours logged in it,  your the last person I am going to ask for an opinion.

Well, then according to you, no game has a point right? All the games I've played (WoW, SWG, MxO, Asian craps, EQs, EVE, AO and lastly AA) are all about the same thing. Do missions or grinding so you can level up, get more skills, better gear, higher ranking, become rich, you name it. If you do find a game with a different point, please do let me know.
