Game Informer is covering The Outer Worlds extensively throughout the month of February. The first two video interviews released cover some pretty interesting topics. In the first, Tim Cain and Leonard Boyarsky speak about living up to player expectations and set the record straight on misconceptions people have about what The Outer Worlds is (and isn't).

I try not to have any expectations, but damn I can't wait to see the game.

I think I'll prefer it being more focused and not a big map that you just explore at will. I get bored of that kind of thing eventually. Exploring can be cool but gameplay-wise it's often a complete waste of time.

well not holding any expectations at all, if i get it i get it, if i dont i wont. too many games been crap and huge letdowns to get hyped for anything decent comming out thesedays.

Love what the guy said at the end about realizing it is an RPG, not something else. I love RPG's, they have always been my favorite genre. Really hope people don't buy it thinking it is going to be a borderlands type looter shooter either because from what I have seen it isn't. Overall really excited to see something like this coming out, instead of another MOBA or battle royal crap.

Now that the wait for a new Fallout drags on and on, this may be the next best thing.

Hopefully this type of transparency will help people keep their expectations in check, because i saw several people on the internet making wildly claims, like that The Outer Worlds was some sort of pseudo sim/sandbox game where you could travel to diferent planets in spaceships (like NMS). This is AA game so don't expect anything like that, it will be (considering Obsidian track record) a good and solid rpg (which is completely fine by me :D).

I just hope they let us switch between First Person and Third Person. I played New Vegas, FO4 and Skyrim 100% in third person and i enjoyed them a lot more that way.

So far i like what they have shown but no word on a third person option is really disappointing.

I'm fine with a more concise and controlled environment. You don't need endless fields of nothing, only to call it "the biggest whatever ever" and then losing out on the experience factor. That being said, the more it's controlled, the better the narrative and "the things other than sandbox stuff" have to be. There's always a chance it could end up a bland illusory corridor game for all we know.
