As of 1:00 PM Central, the DDO General Forum had a grand total of three pages of posts that had been either created or replied to today (5/5).
Either:
- The playerbase is declining.
- The playerbase has decided that the official forums are a waste of time.
- Both of the above.
Some of the more ardent supporters of the game seem to be missing. BZO and Lovesmasher haven't posted in a while. Dane and Jabba are still there, but the rhetoric has died down a bit as a few of the fanboys have gone silent (or posted their goodbyes). I know if I had been identified as a "rabid fanboy" of any game then later on decided it wasn't for me, I'd PM my friends a goodbye and just fade away after realizing that the acrid community I'd helped to create was part of the problem with the game as a whole.
The thread I mentioned earlier regarding declining guild numbers is a bit buried, but the information in it is still interesting. People are starting to comment in calm, even tones about the declining numbers, lack of content, and repetitive play.
I wonder if the fervent supporters have finally moved into the 5th stage of grief ... acceptance. If so, that would be good. Then they could quit trying to ram their (rather elitist) interpretation of what a MMO should be down everyone else's throat and be happy with what they have for as long as they may have it.

My guess is the poulation has both died off and tired of posting/reading the same gripes they have had since beta. Its probley just another indication of immenent death for DDO. Besides, many are probley tired of being shouted down, insulted and told to quit everytime they post anything in the least critical of the game. And lets face it, there isn't really anything positive to post about the game. So why post your suggestions, ideas, or anything else? The Danes/lovesmashers just wait in the bushes to jump anyone who does.
Those guys don't even play the game, they simply lurk on the boards waiting to attack anybody who isn't in their fanatical camp.
Anyone who says they like to run the same few identical quests over and over and over is either lying or would be happy watching the lawn grow(and paying for it).
Perhaps the inevitable has happened, and this cesspool of a community finally turned on itself so much it imploded. The new posts being made are all about other posts. Along the lines of "Enough with the cleric threads", or "Stop posting X complaint".
I'd like to be very clear on one thing:
There is nothing good or even remotely redeemable about DDO or its community or developers or GMs. Nothing.
But I tell you , who ever played the beta of DDO , and didnt smell a "rat" .Went on and bought the game ... well , let me just say ...they deserve it.
But then again we are talking about same comunity that preorders Dark and Light and Mourning.
As for FUNBOYING , if you see a game so rabidly hyped - be sure something is wrong with it.
