The Apex Legends Reddit has a beefy update from the development team that, among other things, informs the community that over 16,000 players have been identified and banned for cheating. Considering the game's infancy, this is a big deal and showcases the commitment of the team to ensuring the game stays cheat-free. The letter also deals with the frustration many have felt with game crashes. To address this, devs have a plan to "improve stability, performance and QoL".

they suck, which is obviously why they cheat.
trolls who basically need cheats so they actually can win a game. then mb show off with "their deeds" in school or whatnot.
"I'll never grow up, never grow up, never grow up! Not me!"
This was terrible in The Division 1 on PC for example and why I played it on PS4 instead.
Also lvl and progression means nothing, skill and character development wise, so if you are banned you can start over within minutes.
As for why they do it, the most of them are doing it because they are frustrated for various reasons.
This leads to the same old story " if I don't have fun, others shouldn't either ". And frustrated people are happy only when they make others feel unhappy.

That “large amount” is .00064% of their 25 mill player base....
Kudos to them for doing something even though the chances of playing against a cheater are slim.
