truely, this is one of the most horrible news in MMORPG since the day SOE announced SWG would be released on Doom days June 26, 2003.

This day will go down in history as one of the great tragedy in MMORPG history

I am not happy either. I really dislike SOE. Making money always comes first with SOE and quality at best is a distant second. Sadly now, I am in the market for a new game of the future.

I am not happy either. I really dislike SOE. Making money always comes first with SOE and quality at best is a distant second. Sadly now, I am in the market for a new game of the future.

yeah i absolutely cant freaking believe this has happened, ill still be looking forward to this game (probably) but i will be looking around at other titles alot more now that is for sure.

i just don't understand what sigil and Microsoft are thinking?? maybe Microsoft doesn't want anything to do with vanguard anymore? either way this sucks soooo bad! LOL ::::16::

Looking at the press release all it said SOE will be doing is marketing, hosting the servers and collecting payment. Those three things SOE has done well. Both SOE and Sigil will be co-publishing the game. Hopefully they will keep their hands out of the development. Maybe itsa not as bad as my intial reaction. The idea of giving SOE money still bothers me.

This might also mean the beta selection process might change and SOE players might get in first. I hope this doesn't mean that they have come to the conclusion that VSOH will not be that good and will just server as an addition to SOE's stable of games. The official boards are going bezerk.

true, supposedly that is all that soe will have control of.......but i look at it this way, it is just a stepping stone.... what is stopping sigil from later giving soe more power in development of vanguard?

i find it hard to believe that soe will have no say in the development of vanguard or post release content, that is what pisses me off.....i sure hope i am wrong though.

If SOE has any control in development they would be foolish to let anyone know. Many, many Vanguard fans hate SOE and were not only hoping for a great game but game that would stick it to SOE and kill EQ2. I would not doubt it if there wre not a lot of people now ready to jump ship.

The move really makes sense for SOE as Vanguard was the game that was really threatning to kill off EQ2. This merger means thier customers will steay with SOE regardless. Smart move for SOE. Hopefully to make such a move they gave up a lot including any control of development. Eitehr way it scarss the heck out of me and really drains away most of the excitement and anticipation I have for VSOH.

Well they can't develop for shit thats been proven on almost every game they have made or taken over and fubared up. This is the only way SOE can stay relevant in the MMO market and thats to pick up any decent looking titles. Those that make comments such as "dude there is a there is a difference in a publisher and a distributer" don't be so naive SOE must have some financial angle in to this game to make it worth their while and I guarantee you that eventually they will take full control. This may not happen for 2 odd years but it will at some point. Since I think SOE are w****rs with poor customer service, long server down times, arrogant and awfull attitutde not to mention show utter contempt towards their customers I would rather tread in dog s*** then give SOE any money.

Sigil are the publisher and developer.

This isnt Verant/SoE relationship.

SoE is just a contractor being hired to perform a service for Sigil, they don't have the control/influence/power etc to change that shit.

If it has Sony Online Entertainment (and I use that last word in its broadest sense) involved with it. I will not spend any money towards the purchase of that game (or any game that is associated with that company). I will take said dollars and spend them elsewhere. Since $oe likes to screw stuff up, mislead and out right lie to thier customers, I refuse to enable them to do so to me. If others want to that is thier prerogative. I vote with my wallet and It says NO. ::::20::
