Aren't they always "improving" gimbaled weapons? It seems like that would be something that would be polished and done by now...

You could play it when it next has a "free fly" and find out. Finished is a relative term, some say that nothing about SC is finished, others that lots is finished. The free fly opportunities let people decide for themselves.

They are always doing reworks and upgrading designs.  Having a CEO that's also a creative director just doesn't work as the CEO keeps things moving and sets time limits while a creative director is always wanting more time to get things perfect and adding new creative ideas.

So SC is basically It's Pat! from SNL, but as an MMO tech demo.

No idea. Its always good when games (not just SC) give people the opportunity to find out for themselves though. Means people don't have to rely on bullshit - positive and negative - but can decide for themselves.

Why would they try to finish it? They're making so much money. They'll lose the excuse for selling more $1000 imaginary space planes.

Why lying when there are two roadmaps giving Squadron 42 (solo) in Beta Q2 2020 and Star Citizen (MMO) sharing all assets with SQ42...
This project started from scratch, end of kickstarter was Nov. 2012 with 12 guys, no pipelines and 6M$.
Based on two triple-A development they are not late.
Q2 2020 is in a year an half... not never or forever.

They've had more than enough time and money to hire the right amount of people to finish this game by now like a proper studio. Chris Robber chose not to, more money into his wallets.

    Bingo.

Except, unlike EA, they're not sitting on content to release later.

Remember, by law, they only have to show that they are in development in order to refuse refunds. Even if they "rework" the same thing over and over again.

I think his vision and scope is more than anyone can pull off and manage no matter the staffing size.  That is not a knock on CR at all as his vision is a grand one but in no way is it practical.
Take George Lucas, as an example. Look what "improvements" he did to his movies.

CR either has a problem making decisions or he's just skirting around the laws in order to prevent refunds. His "vision" doesn't impress me any more, neither does this "scope".

Ah yes. Blame the Gamers! It's worked so well for other studios.

Because it's impossible that somebody on a site that's dedicated to discussions about MMORPGs, might have a clue on how MMORPGs are made. No way. Not possible.

Hmm, nor is Ashes of Creation, Duel Universe, Chronicles of Elyria, and every other game listed on the UNDER CONSTRUCTION/IN DEVELOPMENT tab.
    expletive expletive expletive

All of those games, Star Citizen included, are wonderful examples of just how bad, buyer-beware, and shamelessly deceitful crowd-funded MMOs can be.

These ATV threads always end up looking a lot like Angry Gamer toxic spill :D
"...The angry gamers construct a situation to place themselves in a position where they are morally/financially/whatever superior to the developers. They do this because their egos have been bruised by the actions/announcement of the developer, so they puff themselves up and attempt to rebuff the perceived attack.
It doesn’t even matter if what they are saying is true or not; they want to believe it because it makes them feel vindicated in their beliefs and opinions. Humans have a tendency to double down on their beliefs, even in the face of direct factual evidence to the contrary...
    Surely to be continued.... :D

*Oh and 3.3.5 update just went on for the Evocati, new batch of hype incoming!!! B)

You clearly have no clue about what you are talking about.
Publishers start a project with thousands devs, billions of revenues, full uptodate game engine and pipelines...

Another internet "expert" with 10's of proven experience in releasing 2 Triple-A from scratch :)

Why saying that they'd actually manage to do Squadron 42 beta in Q2 2020 when they still aren't finished with Q4 2018 on that roadmap. We don't know when SQ 42 beta is, but at this point we can be sure it's not in Q2 2020.

Also are you aware that Q2 2020 is not a year and a half away. In a year and a half we're already two months into Q3 2020.
