    "LITCHFIELD - In what a local prosecutor called one of the most significant jail sentences for sexual assault on a minor, a 19-year-old man was sentenced Friday to serve 20 years for sexually abusing three children.


    Jeremy Barney, of Lakeville, worked as a babysitter for the children ages 7, 8 and 13 during the assaults, prosecutors said.








    Senior Assistant State’s Attorney James Fletcher called for a 30-year sentence for Barney for abusing and terrorizing the children. The father of the three young victims, who he said suffer from nightmares to this day, said Friday he wanted the court to slam the prison door and throw away the key. The defense attorney opined his client’s deviant behavior was an illness that required treatment after the minimum 10 years in prison as allowed by law."
