Comparing Division 2 to an early access game like Anthem is just punching below the belt. ;)

Let's hope Anthem 2 will be much better. If EA won't shut down BioWare completely.

Also it's a bit too late for TD2 reviews - everyone interesting in it is already playing it, everyone else is waiting for / playing other games.

Anthem still has better/different combat though. The Division is fine, but it's still just a traditional cover shooter. Whereas Anthem is basically what Firefall wanted to be: this insane flying power fantasy. I can't get that anywhere else. I can get just another cover shooter elsewhere.

If they can't make it so that Anthem is universally a good game there won't be an Anthem 2. Regardless of whether Bioware is shut down or not.

No Anthem 2, but maybe an Anthem: Immortal Blades, a mobile title based on the IP.

Is there a free trial for this game? I am only interested in it if it has an rpg character development system that isn't geared at everyone but rpg fans, and I've learned I can't trust the type of people interested MMOs to answer this question clearly or with actual factual information that would be useful to me. If there isn't a wiki with a skill tree or character builder I can look at myself, I get bad information and waste my time like with Anthem.

" Weapons have a sense of impact and power to them that other looter-shooters (ahem… Anthem) could learn from. "

That's true.. but at the same time, Division2 could learn a thing or two from "skills/abilities" from Anthem. What I tried in both betas of Div2 was clunky and it was more efficient (took less time) to just continue firing your guns than to try to setup the deployment of the gadgets (outside of the repair drone, which was very useful and easy to deploy).

Maybe it was just cause I was'nt used to the controls yet, but still, they all seemed pretty underwhelming to me (at least the gadgets unlocked in the betas).

Yeah, that's pretty much The Division, though. Same in both games.

I have both the Division 2 and Anthem. The Division 2 has way more content/ end-game content than Anthem. However, Anthem being a sci-fi fantasy game still has a lot more potential. I love the flying in Anthem and the abilities are pretty fun. I've been playing the game on a hard since I first made my character and have been finding the game pretty enjoyable since death is far easier to come by.

However, until the potential is fully realized when it comes to Anthem, I'd say get the Division 2 if your interested in these types of games. Or play warframe over Anthem. Maybe like in a year from now Anthem will have a nice dose of really nice gameplay/ features, but alas that is not today.

Not even remotely comparable. If I wanted ground-focused parkour hack and slashery with some shooting, then yes, I'd be playing Warframe right now. But I can't get an experience comparable to a hovering Storm in Warframe.

And yes, my download works fine. It worked just fine when I gave them my founder's money years ago, and it works just fine now that I've played the game for hundreds of hours.

I'm a fan of Excalibur, Limbo, Hydroid, Oberon, and Loki, by the way. What I am not a fan of, however, is the general arrogance of a community that thinks that their game is the only one that needs to exist in their genre.

Im really considering getting this game. I had a lot of fun with Anthem but I swear Bioware breaks it more with each fix. I never got into the first division so id be going in completely fresh. Not sure which way to lean.

In safe houses you see other people otherwise you have to answer there distress call or you have to make a group before a mission. The open world is designed to be more your playground. As you take strongholds and stuff the world changes. In very small ways. So they don't allow people to run around in your open world environment. From what they have said, the end game you can change the open world in bigger ways. Don't know if this is true or marketing fluff as I am only lvl 10.
I think at level 7 you get access to the dark zone.  Plus at certain level you can join a clan, and you can group.  At the main quests at the bottom it says something about hitting a key to get help with the quest.

I'm max level and almost all geared out already.  World tier 4, and not quite at gear score 450 but close.

Things do change substantially.  I was a little confused when going through the world tiers, and how the black tusks and the invaded missions actually work.  So far, it doesn't look like, after running through the invaded missions the first time, you can't rerun them in invaded mode. You can change the normal difficulties to normal, hard and challenge mode.

Hard mode is very tough on WT4, but challenge mode is near impossible without a group.

The world gets much more hostile. You won't be able to port around much, black tusks take to the streets, enemies ramp up their attacks on each other, and areas flip occupation very quickly. Trade routes will be blocked, and settlements will be attacked so that you can't travel to them until you clear the enemies.  Large aerial drones can follow and attack you out of the blue, and simply moving from one area to another can become a huge undertaking.  Control points can flip between the many factions and you can actually have a 3 way battle between the occupying faction, the attacking faction, and you.

It doesn't open up the amount of players you see in game, aside from, at least on PC, there are a lot more people in the safe houses, as it's pretty much where all players end up eventually.  You get repeatable projects and stuff to complete.

The leveling journey was pretty good, but at end game, I group the majority of the time by simply queuing up for each mission, or answering backup calls. I had a good amount of fun getting there, but it's much more fun at max.  Unfortunately world tier 5 hasn't released yet, nor the raid or the final stronghold, despite it being in the game, it isn't unlocked yet.  Still having a great time, after I get to 450, it's time to explore the darkzones.

I haven't had this much fun with a game in a long time.
Leveling has been a blast.. with so many missions and situations to get involved in.
It feels good to know the endgame is full of things to do as well.

It's refreshing to play a game so polished at launch.

thats very good to hear because after playing the beta I was most worried about end game and what it was going to feel like. Still going to take my  time but good to hear that it becomes more co-op friendly than the game is right now.
Well, if you don't have a clan already feel free to join Volunteer Squad :)  I'll be happy to help whoever needs it whenever. I just rolled a lowby to help people through the leveling game.

I make jokes about early access and so on, but we are now in a age where any AAA can launch in an unready state. I have hopes for Anthem, it is getting work done on it, and if enough is done I will play it. But my advice to anyone would be do what I do, wait until you know a game is ready to launch by waiting until the launch.
