Fans of PC Gaming and MMOs are likely already familiar with Black Desert Online - one of the best looking MMOs to hit the genre in quite some time - and have been enjoying the game for years now. I was severely addicted to WoW and then ESO so I never jumped in until I had the opportunity to review the recent release of Black Desert (minus the Online) on the Xbox One. I’ve spent a couple of weeks in the game now and I’m ready to give my thoughts on this gorgeous, but sometimes confusing, MMO from Pearl Abyss.

I can't say, I play on an XBox One X. Robert mentioned XBox One in his article. I play with 4K on and it doesn't bother me like it did Robert I guess. Maybe my eyes are too old to notice.
It's 30fps locked and draw distances are decreased vs one x. Lod bias isn't as high, either. I played on both.
My bigger complaint about the PC version of Black Desert is that combat was just awful. Mobs basically stand there waiting to die and don't meaningfully fight back, apart from the occasional elite that is suddenly really hard. That's fine as a brief introduction to the game, but it should still play like that several hours in.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Is that still present?
Also, in terms of quests - do you have to do them? Like are certain systems or content locked by quest gates?
This game kind of begs (for me anyway) to just wander and grind/explore.
Something I think I got a bit spoiled by in ESO was that all content is simply there for the taking.
So with most quests being mob grinds, do you really have to do them?
