The Crowfall site has been updated with a look at the War Tribes system that will bring complex challenges to players as they "try to wrest control of the world away from the gods and stave off their inevitable destruction". War Tribes can take the form of military encampments, tribal villages, abandoned villages. Usually these will be fortified by enemies that have banded together to scavenge resources and they can be found anywhere within the game world.

Hey! Look at all the strawmen falling down!
( Note to self-Don't say anything bad about Drizzt.)
An acerbic sense of humor is NOT allowed here.
The "War Tribes" you can run as (in addition to Human, Wood Elf, High Elf, Half Elf) are Minotaur, Centaur, Guinecean, Nethari, Fae, Half Giant, Stoneborn, and Elken. So the players are going to have to suck it up and get by with just those... And you don't have to be an ethnocentric "War Tribe", you are free to make your kingdom with any combination of the races if that is your choice.
The idea here is to introduce more hazards out in the world. Just like the "PvE" adventure zones are necessary for people to level up and learn their classes while also providing a space where people can PvP over the resources therein.
The game is still 100% PvP focused, but there can't always be players everywhere and this makes for some interesting scenarios such as a group fighting off beat tribes when they are waylaid by another faction. No territory will simply be handed to the first person to arrive, and THAT is the point.
mmorpg junkie since 1999
Part of my problem is lot's of little things don't feel right and even to the point the graphics sort of don't really capture me.
IMo they are not going to get it right, they could but i see too many little things that seem wrong.
A few glaring mistakes
1 Campaigns are too short.I noticed 19 days on one, maybe that changes idk.
2 If you don't start at the beginning, might as well wait for the next campaign and that is IF<<<you actually like the campaign idea,i don't but i am not saying it is bad,i can see it's positives.<br />
3 leaderboards,i actually detest ANY form of play all day and be rewarded designs.I feel it is an area all games need to change their way of thinking.I also play games for FUN and don't want to feel the need to WIN WIN.
I also don't want to see the game putting some players or clans on a pedestal like they are better than everyone else.
4 I want to feel immersed in a game world and not be clicking a bar on a screen that auto warps me to a different campaign or my kingdom.I want to enter the world ,have to survive and move about carefully, find a place to live or setup camp while i take a break.I want to move about the world inch by inch as i would in reality and not move about different game modes.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
IDk why it does it ,idk why the person looking after it can't fix it,it just looks so amateur hour.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

Kyleran on yours sincerely
'But there are many. You can play them entirely solo, and even offline. Also, you are wrong by default.'
Ikcin in response to yours sincerely debating whether or not single-player offline MMOs exist...
'This does not apply just to ED but SC or any other game. What they will get is Rebirth/X4, likely prettier but equally underwhelming and pointless.
It is incredibly difficult to design some meaningfull leg content that would fit a space ship game - simply because it is not a leg game.
It is just huge resource waste....'
Gdemami absolutely not being an armchair developer
As far as pvp goes it's hard to say how it will shake out because right now there isnt really any incentive to defend or attack objectives. If you are just looking to gank newbs there is plenty of that though.
Ironically enough the fighting over the pve warbands is probably going to bring actual fun pvp into the open world.
Being negative on gaming forums just doesn't hit the same pleasure center for me...
Ashes of Creation looks to be doing something like that with players able to act as monsters.
Not sure how players acting as monsters makes for better PVP though. PVP is PVP, it's either good or bad as is, what the enemy looks like doesn't make a difference to me.
The new War Tribes have the same classes and abilities as players so it's like playing against really dumb players. If they magically were better (as players), wouldn't be any different then fighting players as players.
Crowfall isn't a deathmatch, not sure how you jump to that conclusion.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
