WH universe is so big, there're alot of races that arent making it into the initial release. That being said, I'd love to see Tomb Kings included in some future expansion. Vampire Counts = emo kids of Warhammer!
I don''t really know when Humankind will die out but i''m guessing about 6 years before WOW. -BarCrow
I would not be suprised to see races like the scaven in the game just not playable. Probably doing some sort of a mission or what have you against them. It would be kinda silly if it wasn't going to be so.

I honestly, TRULY resent that remark, mostly because I have played VC ever since they did away with the Undead, and divided it into two different books.
Emo - Don't care about anything, don't do anything, listen to crappy music.
Vampires - Care about killing so they can drink blood. Do magic, raise undead armies, conquer humans (and other trivial races) And do with strength of an elephant. And they not only listen to cool music, but they usually play an instrument. (ok, yea I know Emo's think they can play instruments too, but trust me, they can't, they're just beating on it.)

No offense but you can be a knight in any other MMORPG. Granted you won't be fighting for the Lady of the Lake. What's the difference in Warhammer though? For example the dwarven race. The description of the dwarves on the main Games Workshop site was about a page long. In that page was the standard description that all fantasy worlds have for dwarves. The main thing I like about Warhammer are the quirky characters and gritty atmosphere. The more I read about the Warhammer mmorpg the more I feel it'll be the same as all the other high-fantasy mmorpg's out there.
I can't wait for Skaven to be a playable race!! That said, you have to consider that with the dynamic they've got going, with an even number of races matched up against each other on two opposing sides, they'll probably introduce new races two at a time, to keep the balance. So if Skaven or Lizardmen were ever introduced later on, who would be their nemeses? What side would they fall on? Skaven would almost certainly be Chaos, but the thing about the Skaven empire is that it doesn't really have above-ground boundaries, it's spread all over the old world, so who could be their primary opponents? At the moment I'd guess Brettonians, but we'll see. No idea where Lizardmen would fall order v. chaos-wise, or who their nemisis would be.

Well, being as it is actually a MMORPG they are doing, yes, and seing as the fact is that it IS a fantasy setting, indeed i dont see how those two basic facts can be any different from another MMORPG with a fantasy setting... The REAL difference is what's beneath, the focus of Warhammer has always been the combat, not so much the roleplay, and from the looks of it that is what they are trying to focus on in WAR aswell.
The real strength of Warhammer though, is as you pointed out, the depth, the history, the characteristics of the Warhammer universe (the quirky characters and the gritty atmosphere)... The universe is so incredibly rich with atmosphere it practicly oozes with it... That is one hell of an advantage to have when you're making a game... While some details will be similar to other games (how can they not be?) i'm sure it will be a very original game, and most likely extremly fun to play

This is the awesome thing about WAR, it's got so much potential. As has already been said, the sheer number of races that inhabbit the Warhammer universe is huge, therefore expansions in the future should be easily thought up. It's gonna keep going and going
what about the Wood elfs? what faktion will they join, oh yes there kingdom is inside the Empiere and therefor they fight the empiere on the other hand they won't fight with chaos either. Skaven will (if it will be a playabele race) be chaos, and I think that the lizardmen will be the good guys :P.

Warhammer for me, have always been.. Well, tons of roleplay, less combat! I'm a Warhammer Fantasy Roleplaying Game 2 Edition PnP'er. And if Mythic decided to focus only on the tabletop version, i'd be really dissapointed. Big grity battles aren't as interresting as the Witchhunter tracking down a necromancer.
Or they could just introduce other races by creating another realm. I don't know if that is possible because i don't know the warhammer lore, but that would definetly be cool to see that. Three sides is the best imo like DAoC.

I'm not sure quite what you're asking here.
As far as I can tell, Skaven and Lizardmen aren't going to be playable races at the start, even though I'd love to be a Skaven, heh.

Tomb Kings, on the other hand, would be a very unique race to the mmoprg genre of games, and I would love to see them in the future.
