How many of you played the table-top game?

Thought this would be a good poll to have:

Nah, not me. Even though I like war gaming as much as the next guy I enjoy the numbers aspect of the game. The models look interesting but I'd soon write all the troops on a piece of paper. How they customize their miniatures is an amazing process. Especially the High Elf modeling and painting award winner, Rob Lane. Most of the players seem like craftsmen who take a lot of time painting and assembling their armies. It's a collectors game. For me, I enjoy sticking with the math side of war gaming.

Ya, 3/4 of the fun of Warhammer is collecting and putting together your army. I believe a lot of people dont even really bother with the tabletop and just collect them because they look so cool. Me and my friend also made our own scenery and props for his table, they were nothing great at the time but its a lot of fun.

I played it a little, but most of the fun I had was when I painted the miniatures. After a while the costs of the game far outweighed the playability. It could get boring if you found yourself stuck in a battle that dragged on for hours. That and it was never as popular as D&D and it was difficult to find other intrested participants to do battle against.

They did however produce a game that was initially based off of the table top game Hero Quest that was popular for a short time. This game was a dungeon crawl style game that was based in the world of Warhammer but it didn't require you to purchase gobs of models, and it moved at a reletively fast past. In the end though the techinical era won over and video games advanced to the point where its more emersive to just play an mmorpg.

I still think back on the days of minatures and stat sheets, but I wouldn't want to return to them.

I played when i was younger and had contact to a RPG association that was equipped of some exciting scenery pieces.

Sadly Warhammer tabletop requires lot of time and specialized place to do it.

Nowadays, I do not have the time nor the will to do it, but i still have my considerable collection of Empire minis :) Some of them are ever painted (badly) by me.

i used to love this game when i played. Sure it had a huge social stigmata and i was seen as a huge geek but to me it didnt matter. I had many many friends who played and had many great times playing at my local store in the mall. There was such a great sense of community and i really hope this somehow comes over in the game to. If theres one thing that will make or break a game its the community associated with the game.

I cannot wait for this game to be released, i can definately see me buying this for launch :)

Never played the table top, and don't know much about the lore surrounding the game.  Just looking for a good PvP game like DAOC and hoping mythic doesn't mess it up.

Tried to learn it 2 times but got bored each time. And the painting got me nuts.

Played it a lot about 5 years ago, but I mostly just paint the miniatures now.

Bought starter sets for both fantasy and 40k years ago because I loved the universe so much, but I could never find anyone who wanted to play and collecting the minatures got too darn expensive for a kid of my allowance. Plus it's impossible to paint the darn things if you have no fine motor skills.

I played some Warhammer Fantasy (Chaos), but not nearly as much as I played Warhammer 40K. (Chaos and Sisters of Battle) With 40K I entered tournaments and such, but with fantasy just small games in a friends basement.

I also had a kickass Orc team for Bloodbowl.
