Today's a huge day for Albion Online with its free to play launch. Veterans and the new generation of players will be able to enjoy all of the numerous updates made to Albion since launch, up to and including the recently released Oberon update. F2P doesn't mean that development stops either. Sandbox Interactive has big plans for large updates throughout 2019, so it's a great time to dive into the innovative game world.

My only regret is that it's full-loot PvP. I really love the art style of the game, but that type of gameplay just isn't for me.
Still, it's very exciting and I wish everyone best of luck!
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Don't be one of the many who will wander into a full loot zone, loose everything and ragequit, in-game press G and Join a good guild/alliance.
Don't try to solo this game unless you want self-punishment.
Shameless ad but super relevant to this game's F2P

I might come back if I found a group like yours which well aligned to my US eastern play times.

No fate but what we make, so make me a ham sandwich please.
And before the "there's looking-for-group in-game" argument, mind the looking for group is a mess because of how many people join just to report their guild to come gank you in dungeons, this happens all the time... you can only trust your own guild these days.
Even content as ganking that was more solo friendly before, now is a lot about numbers, one has to have a guild to ease a bunch of content, even if the guild is just your group of friends...
I've seen people solo rage quitting the game over and over again trying to play it as the traditional MMO, that I can't understand why tell people that they can solo Albion, they just can solo parts of Albion.
It's the difference of being a solo trader and being always an easy target vs being a trader in a guild and join the guild organized escorts. Which player is going to have the best experience?

There are no pets in Albion.
I agree with MaxBacon about joining a guild because it does make the overall experience from start to endgame easier. I would suggest finding a guild that suits your specific needs like time zone, mostly PVE or PvP oriented and because this is a PVP game, friendliness if you care about that. Do some random dungeons with people by searching in the LFG channel and meet some players that way. If you plan to PVP later create your island in Caerleon by running or taking the boat there naked. Many new players make the mistake of creating their islands elsewhere when their main focus later in game will be PvP.
