My Borderlands 3 Wish List

The looter shooter is a hard genre of game to get right, but Gearbox managed to get pretty close with its series of Borderlands games. As fun as they were, it’s important not to look back on them with rose tinted glasses. There were definitely some areas I’d have liked to see improved and I’m hoping Borderlands 3 will address the issues and also add some new features along the way.

With the exception of more skills and better story, I think I disagree. Not to say your points aren't valid, just not what I want to see.

Oh, and more vault hunters for sure. I'm not totally sold on the core hunters, and am seriously considering waiting until the inevitable GotY version with the dlc hunters (especially since I pondered at the loot chest edition pre-order screen so long I missed out).

I want a mmorpg where people have gone through misery, have gone through school stuff and actually have had sex even. -sagil

Sounds like you just want Borderlands Online. I wish the comparisons to Destiny and The Division would stop.. it's not a live service online only series and it doesn't need to be. The fact it isn't is the reason why it's the best in the genre. If you add the need for obsessive balancing, all the fun things about the series go away.

I want the Borderlands 1 and 2 characters to also be playable. Namely, Mordecai and Zero.

This is one instance in which recycled content is player friendly.

(I know they're returning, but I haven't been able to find any info as to whether they'll be playable or NPCs.)

I agree. A lot of the fun of Borderlands comes from how ridiculously unbalanced everything is and that just doesnt work in a live service setting.

Honestly my big wish for Borderlands 3 is to just make our own character and build it how we want. Not that having to stick to one of the preset hunters will break my heart.

I Vehemently disagree with the story part. This trailer dropped after the huge let down of anthem for me, and my attempt to play a Division Game again(great games boring ass story and enemies). When this trailer dropped I sat there and tried to think about the last time i just had FUN in a video game.

The answer was - Back when my group of friends and I spent way too many hours playing all the borderlands. The game is just fun, the story is just laugh out loud fun. I really need both this game and The Outer Worlds in my life really FOR the levity.

The rest of the article, I mean they fixed a bunch of the coop issues, who doesnt want more classes. I don't know if I need instanced dungeons or rifts. This is the one game my friends and I played a ton, not because of the features, but because it was just FUN. Melee weapons though my friend, they could be pretty freakin sweet with how weird gearbox can get...

    "My Borderlands 3 Wish List"

    LOLZ

    I WANT SKIPPABLE CUTSCENES!

    ANOTHER SPONSORED BS!

    ITS LITERALLY DYBLOH WITH GUNZ.

BORD 1 was mediocre dybloh /f2p mmo copy. (That for some reason had SP)

Bord 2 was PURE D3 copy.
(And at this point even lazy kids didnt kicked that puppy)
    (Badass rank aka Paragon, DUH)
(They also added skins...in FIRST PERSON game. I think i saw that somewhere...oh yeah - Dying light. Wich is also has same loot system. Mmmm. Can you feel that innovation?! >.>)

BTPS was overpriced super flop (even visually it was downgrade, and story mmm. They tease you with promises that you can be bad guy...I really wish i could kill (TORTURE) Lilith when i played it).

Then they made STILLBORN...i mean BATTLEBOORING...w/e, weird thing that...again lil kids forget about...for some reason.

And now (when lil kids crazy about BR and every lazy dev/greedy publisher made one) they released ENCHANCED version of First game...that nobody cares about. (Seriously Apex looks like Blands...)

    DOUBLE LOLZ.

Isnt next game (ie B2) suppose to be enchaned already? (It also was WAY more popular...for some reason.)

(Dont forget Bulletstorm remaster amazingness :P )

And now B3 super duper mega awesome edition has super duper mega awesome price tag on it...cause of reasons. And ofcourse its "Creepy fat old guy in shady valley store" excusive.

    LOLZ

P.S. NG+ also feels like dumb thing - do EXACT same BS (the beggining of the game is tutorial...so why tf you need it on ng+? LAZY). It tells you same story all over again?! Even d3 removed that.

And that Father thing is sooo new there wasnt another game released recently that had same stupid thing. >.>

melee weapons would be nice, was annoying to play as zero melee, and only be able to collect guns :P

I do not expect AAA combat design, what i would expect from this game is humor and fun ,matter of fact i figure the combat to be pretty bad. Then again how many shooters do anything creative or fun,how about none,it is ALWAYS walk through rooms/halls or follow hand holding markers to a destination killing mostly trash fodder along the way to a Boss fight.
So when i enter a shooter i know 99% what to expect but Borderlands gives me a different immersive feel and with humor/fun so it is a touch more interesting.

If i wanted to improve it ,i would aim at character customization outside buying loot with currency and improve the actual combat. Then if you are aiming for co-op put in some co-op elements.Example one player might toss in oil containers and another lights them on fire. The problem in general with most shooters is they do not allow any time to make it engaging,it is usually just in your face firing spam bullets. To me that only works in a Serious Sam type of game,i rather see some engaging combat is my wish.

Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

Wiz, you've no idea what you're talking about because you probably played the previous games for about 5 minutes. The combat in Borderlands 2 is the most innovative and varied stuff you'll ever see in a first person shooter once you start maxing out the skill trees. The kind of things you can do are just insane.

im surprised no one said for it not to be an epic exclusive thats a wish right?

Its funny Randy Pitchford endorsing epic like its the fucking savior and he cannot even do a simple magic trick right ( check around 1:50) only reason he put it on epic (even tho he says it was 2k) is money plain and simple and him defending his choice after the review bombing is just sad.... his decision was motivated by money.... hes about as good at publishing as he is magic!

To answer accusation guy i played for a few hours, should NEVER have to think way beyond for combat to get good.
All i was doing was shooting bullets then entire time and aiming was wonky and enemies just run straight at me,that is about as bland as combat gets.Telling me unlocking skills down the road,it gets better, how would i know, you have to engage me from the very first minute,i am not hanging on ...oh maybe it gets better later.\
Like i said,i got fun humor out of the game and to be honest,i could completely do without ANY rifles or machine guns,i am so beyond that, done it a million times.

The game's strength imo is the personalities and the humor.IMO i has the best humor/personalities of any game i have ever played and guess what, from the FIRST minute,i never had to wait to see it.

I think that should be some kind of unlockable option once you have finished 2nd or 3rd time around or something. It is a lot of extra work though.

To Michael B, I have to wonder what games you play that have better co-op than BL2? I'm only aware of CoX having better group play. BL2 may not have had level scaling, but that also isn't the best way to do it. The option to complete missions out of order was awesome and I'm not aware of other games that have that.

For me also though the more of an MMORPG it is the better.

People talk about steam 30% cut is alot, wait till Epic beat steam to death and becomes the next NEW shitter monopoly online game store at 50% cut, because no more competition therefor, set any price. I will bet Epic WILL go that low, not that their company ever show they done any good in the past, and be doubtful they will start now, imo.

What I hope Borderland 3 to had put in character creation/customization of the hunter instead of the cheaply low effort of pre-made characters. However, I do understand the reason for set name and char is because of story elements, much easier to write over the custom made/name char. But THAT was in 2000, in 2019 the general public don't like pre-made char nor linear on rail shooter anymore, still Borderland series continue this formula. I was also expecting it be more free form open world, but then again, BL3 haven't show level design yet, so their is little hope they might go that route.

Like most ppl would agreed the reason why Borderland work is BECAUSE ITS NOT always online requirement and can be play offline. IF BL3 was a live services crap then I personally will write off of all BL from this day on. The DRM shit is more spyware than they want ppl really think it is, then again you can believe what you want. All online games are not own but rented, once again you can believe how you want. I find the content in this article seem to favor live service crap where the company have control over their user as if THAT ever a good thing.

On different note; its odd to me if you know your game "could"sells well, why would you sign an exclusive deal, the money from the sales will be far better than any signed one, UNLESS they know BL3 is not of excellence or even an above standard quality, so that would explain the sell out. Probably the developers lack confident in their games, better go for a shady signed deal for a sure gain than a risk of a flop, imo.

I agree! It suffered from horrible timing. I think they could have flipped it into a good BR game. APEX is out now, but Battleborn could have been a good hero BR. Just needed to fix the matchmaking add the BR game mode.

The Borderlands series was one that I had never really enjoyed in the past.

But with the Borderlands 1 remaster, I decided to give it another go... and I'm enjoying it. Perhaps it is my experience with other... less finished looter shooters that has made Borderlands more impressive by contrast. Or maybe it's just that I had let the early game shooting (which is super rough and inaccurate because of the RPG accuracy and sniper sway stats) color my opinion.
