The latest Twin Saga ad running on this site takes you to a captcha page.

In case you thought that you had seen all of the dumb approaches to advertising, Aeria has apparently found a new one.  They're paying to run ads about a game where if you follow the ad, it asks you to complete a captcha before it will tell you anything about the game.  I think that's a bad sign about the game itself.  If there is a game.

I'm not complaining about this site taking the money for the ad.  They need money, and that's less of a problem than a lot of other things that they could have done to try to get it.  I just think it's bizarre that someone would spend money on an ad that sends you to a captcha page.

It's not an ad directly from us but rather one of the networks that we use.  We don't have much control over what ads they display.  Using a captcha is not really a violation of our internal ad policies so I don't see a need to fight to have it removed.

I'm not arguing that you should remove it.  I'm saying that I think it's bizarre that someone would pay for that.

This one passed me by. If I had come across it however I certainly wouldn't have progressed to the next level.

Just avoid it for sure, if you are that interested in the game do a google search and check it out from there.

Depending on the captcha type there could be money in getting you to answer.  Whether from user tracking or from classifying pictures.
