After months of silence, the Destiny's Sword blog has come back to life with an introductory post to provide readers with a first-look at what developers believe is "a forward-looking, genre-altering MMO". Destiny's Sword combines a normal combat oriented mission style with a unique twist that involves the well-being of the characters. "The life of a combatant takes its toll over time and even the most hardened fighter needs time to recharge." the post reads.

Seems like Darkest Dungeon meets MMOs with a more positive spin. Intriguing, to say the least. My interest is piqued. :)

looks like a really niche game

the win or fail of this one will like always depend on how well the combat is done, and it looks like combat is not the main feature

I think that MMOs are long past the time when "niche game" is considered a negative. With all the platforms and all the hundreds of games that come out in any given year, the vast majority of games are "niche". The days of WoW-sized games on a longitudinal basis are gone.

If a game is small, but fun and profitable, that's good enough.

Kudos to them for trying something new, or at least something non-standard.

actually that is what I mean as a not as good, they call MMORPG, I just see a lobby game, with a lot of hassle since you will make a main group and 2 back ups to deal with the debuffs of "mental health", with in the end its what it is, chances will be you will get a random debuff based on how well or bad you go on combat, maybe something of random events, random events are fun till a certain point

maybe it will be better then i'm guessing, but serious now, lately i'm guessing how games are going, and most are not really good, you get a real good, niche or failure, when you say niche is just pretty much life support till the devs get tired
FOR HONOR, FOR FREEDOM.... and for some money.

What the hell is "WOKE" ONLINE ? Sounds like a game Disney would be interested in publishing

It all depends on how big of a niche. A game that is loved by 10% of MMORPG players can be plenty profitable. It's much harder to make big money by appealing to only 0.1% of MMORPG players.

Sounds good unless you like money and subscribers.

I mean if you want those two things might wanna just scrap this core concept imo. It wouldn't be used anyhow not to the way the devs want. It'll be super inconvenience mode all the way.

Speaking of swg and that whole system... Yeah that sucked ass too. Like nobody plays mmo's to micromanage the emotions of their characters. Half of us don't even /emote at all period and thank fuck combat oriented games don't force this on us.

Looks interesting but I can see it being very tedious and boring if not done right in an engaging manner.

Brenics ~ Just to point out I do believe Chris Roberts is going down as the man who cheated backers and took down crowdfunding for gaming.

I'd seriously consider changing the name. It doesn't sound forward-looking, genre-altering at all but something from the 80s.
