After The Division 2 players found a poster at the Lincoln Center in the game that seemed to be hinting at a Viking-themed Assassin's Creed, the rumor mill has spun up again with leaked screens and information about what's being called Assassin's Creed Ragnarok. As with Odyssey, the game will have a focus on ship-based raiding and looting in the seas from the North Atlantic to the English Channel.

Seriously they should just starting naming these like FIFA & Madden- AssinCreed19 and then next year AssinCreed20
Aloha Mr Hand !
Why? They're following history and historical characters. They have all the content in the world at their disposal to make these and I loooooooooove it. While not all of it is 100% accurate, a lot of the areas, names, character figures are authentic and I fuckin love it. Talking about immersing yourself into a character and world.

On the other hand, Ubisoft may create this game later with much better graphics and maybe on larger scale (whole Pax Romana from Britain to Judea instead of "just" Italy).
edit: those screens are a bit too simple to be real AC game - which is probably only one year away (i.e. half-finished). Also houses in them look like they are from 14-16 century at least, not from 1000AD.
Thank you for your time!
There's a shit ton of history within the entire European area. Tons of history = tons of content they can dabble in and a lot of it so far has been fantastic. I think my least favorite so far has been the London setting(its the only one I haven't fully completed) and even then, I enjoyed it.
I think from a geography standpoint, some Asian areas are expected. They did US, Euro, now I would assume some sort of Asian style game would be coming up. Though, being a huge fan of Viking era history, I am excited as all hell if this upcoming game is actually Viking themed.
Though, I agree with 3dom in this thread... I was hoping for an Ancient Rome setting as well. There's so much there they could do.
Carbon copy? Have you actually played any of the recent AC games?
Origins was the first to embrace their new action rpg gameplay style and was drastically different from any previous AC games. Odyssey is much different than Origins as well, the two games are like night and day despite sharing a few features.
I think they would make own assets even for prototyping.
Seriously?

The word "Ragnarok" got nothing to do with Ragnar Lodbrok from the series..
One of the most popular Norse heroes among the Vikings and a larger than life character, Ragnar Lodbrok was a legendary Viking commander who became a scourge of England and France.
He received the surname Lodbrok, on account of the strange coat he wore, he was also known as 'Hairy Breeches' which name he was given because of the trousers he wore made from animal skin which his wife had made him. Ragnar claimed descent from the great Odin, God of War himself and was linked to two famous shieldmaidens, Lathgertha in the Gesta Danorum, and Queen Aslaug according to the Völsungasaga.
Several of the tales about Ragnar Lodbrok seem to originate with the deeds of several Viking heroes and his historicity remains a disputed issue among historians. Ragnar Lodbrok is referred to in several sources including the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle, the Tale of Ragnar Lodbrok, a sequel to the Völsunga saga, the legendary saga the Tale of Ragnar's sons, the Ragnarsdrápa, a skaldic poem of which only fragments remain, attributed to the ninth century poet Bragi Boddason, the Krákumál, Ragnar's death-song, a Scottish skaldic poem and the Gesta Danorum, written in the twelfth century by the Christian chronicler Saxo Grammaticus. The Frankish annals, or the Annals of St. Bertin record a Viking by the name of "Reginheri" (a Latin form of Ragnar) who raided France and died in the year 845.
There is no new Assassin's Creed game in 2019. So yeah, they kept their promise.
The original leak (on 4chan) says that the player character is an ally of Ragnar Lobrok instead of playing the character.
But I wouldn't take it seriously. As another poster pointed out, one of the models in the screenshot is free on Sketchfab and the rest of the images (there are 7) looks like a very low quality modded Skyrim.
edit: Reading the Resetera thread about it, people found one of the "set" used in the leaked screenshots to be a free Unity engine asset too. It's fake.
Would prefer they skipped a year and repeated the love they gave Origins
