guild wars for dummies

tokemoninatokemonina Member Posts: 6

Hello,

I read things about guildwars, then visited the web page. I really really very impressed about the graphics and the game itself. the characters and the screenshots looked amazing. Also it was saying there is no lag / players play securely etc. which is really important for an online game.  But I want to try the gamebefore I buy. but I dont know what to download first. where to start. what I understood is, I have to follow their event days. will I download the client, then wait and follow the news from web page to find an event? thanks.

And one more thing... I saw 2 guildwars (gw and gw factions) what are the diffrences between them? why are there two gw? factions looks better am I wrong?

for a tryout , you can ask someone for a key , collector edition comes with a 14 day trial key to give away , if you can find someone to give you one , that is a option

also the events , i guess there will be a event 1 month before the next chapter comes out , that means in 5 months

guildwars and guildwars factions , can work as stand alone games , but the best choice is to merge the acounts , so you can explore all the content with the same char

factions have new game mecanics , and grafics are more detaild . but core guildwars looks very nice too
factions is new , so i guess its better , i dont have it yet.

    story line is diferent too

Don't let the graphics hook you up into a game. GW surely got pretty graphics, but that's not the big part for this game, just a small one. You'll have to decide if the game is good or not by the gameplay, and it does kick ass. I like this game alot, but it's not a game for everyone. Either you'll hate or love it.

This is the best signature ever. Well, it is really up to you to decide. :x

hmm as far as I made a research about the game, I got a little bit concerned about pk. I like the games that have optional pk zones.  but in this game you do pk most of the time right? is it different because of this?

I'm afraid GW has got no PK zones at all. In order to kill other players, you'll need to head to the PvP isles where the different types of PvP games are. Once you enter one of the areas, you'll have to press a button, and then battle will commence shortly after that.

There is no pking in this game, at least not in the usual sense of the word. You can play through the entire game and never kill another player's character once. There are arenas (and now missions) where you fight against other players, but they are consensual and so no one can pk you without your consent.

I really dont think there is a need for Pking, If u feel the need of testing your skills with another player go to the arena. I believed that you could go to the guild hall and fight one on one also but dont cut me on that1.
