Elder Scrolls Online's latest chapter, Elsweyr, launched on PC yesterday and to the surprise of no one - it's good stuff. It's no secret that ESO has been my go-to MMO for the past several years, and this Khajiit and Dragon infused expansion seems to be more icing and an already delightful cake.

Agreed.....the dragons are cool right now but I was in game for 30 minutes and killed three of them without even looking for it. Way too common at the moment, I imagine they will nerf the respawn or something.

One complaint about the classes in this game is they all feel the same to me in most ways when it comes to combat. Never mind they all can use the same weapons, the core abilities all feel the same too, just different graphics and slight variances in animations. Necro is no different so far in that respect. Just new spell effects to look at. I will keep playing with the necro because why not? I do just as well with a level 1 as I do my level 50 in open world. Might as well see if the class shines more with all the skill lines maxed.

Started yesterday and so far so good. I do wish Necro had a perma pet that could hang around like the Wardens bear, of course I would have had to dismiss it when near a city or town.

Since the new character inherits CP points it can more then take care of himself. They could use more diversity with classes.

I've bought everything but this expansion... what would you say the games HOOK is? Because.. I tend to start new characters... and the starting zones are woefully snooze-fest worthy. But I feel like I have to do them for the few gems... and I can't see "going" back.

Good to hear but I am not surprised, the guys in ESO still believe in adding sizable new content, a hallmark of quality that seems to be lost to so many MMOs now.

I think the problem with ESO is that they seem to be lacking surprises. It's all GOOD content, but I'd like to try and see them get a little more experimental and creative with systems and the like to make an already content-rich game, even more layered.

at level 4 i killed dragon first time. its just feels another world boss in the end.
Biggest issue is necromancer dont have perma pet. image sorc have 2 perma pet while necro dont have any. i just dont understand logic here.

I have seen comments before from players about the fact they have a lot of content and it is time to do something new. Various things have been mentioned from raids to sprucing up the combat system (animation cancelling should be part of gaming's history now, not a system still in place).

The Thievery system was very well received something new like that would hit the mark really well.

I've done starting areas perhaps seven or eight times now.  Like someone commented you really don't have to do starting areas anymore because of level scaling.  You can go nearly anywhere and start questing, exploring, running dungeons, or whatever you like.

This time I'm grinding him to 50 then doing the Elsweyr storyline, then a few other dlc storylines in order to add skills from those unique lines.

If a game has a Necro in it I play it.  So far so good with one.  Could be better could have been worse I suppose.  Can't really say until I finish a good build.  It's not a weak class.

They probably look at what happens when WoW does this and decide not to. Their formula is working and getting "creative" at this point is likely seen as a risk.

Great expansion but my critiques remain. In their huge open world a lvl 1 is the same as a level 50, if not even higher. Because every character at any level is auto twinked to equality. But it gets even worse: If you have a high level champion (any character above level 50) every new character created on the same account inherits ALL the champion points at level 1 and that champion level is hidden. I saw a level 10 and 20 out dueling and destroying Champion point 300,400 and even 500 characters. At least Zenimax could put the toon's champion level in parenthesis or something?

Ruined another class in this game - a neccy without being able to command a permanent army?! No buy for me...

I dont get it , games been out for what 5 years?  3 chapters, 10 dlc and they still can't figure out how to make any  other viable build besides Staff and cloth ?

I think players are missing the point (also I think you are thinking guild wars).

In the Elder Scrolls, as far as I can remember, all skeletons/zombies, etc were always temporary. I never played Daggerfall so don't have any knowledge of whether one could raise dead and if those minions stayed until destroyed.

I want to like this game, really I do. I have a bunch of max level characters with decent to great gear, I've worked to figure out my own builds and followed popular 'proven' builds. I've dabbled with every class, but prefer templar for the most part.

Still, something just doesn't work for me. I don't mind the slow speed of combat at times, sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. What really kills it for me is the story. The main story and the chapter stories are all so crappy and slow, while some of the best writing I've seen in an online game is coming from random side quests.

I admit that I haven't played in a while and only got about half way through Summerset before just putting it down and walking away, so who knows maybe it'll get better.

Love it for the open world, hate it for it feeling like an endless tutorial due to level scaling. If I play it like an Elder Scrolls and ignore everyone and imagine any player as an NPC, I have an ok time. If I play it like an MMO I'm incredibly disappointed.

It's the closest we got to a system like SWG.

As said above: add change, upon change upon change and suddenly you have - we want vanilla.

    Its a tough line.

I believe its in keeping as well. And with a permanent skeleton or whatever in tow you would be auto kill on site whenever you went into a town, near a guard etc. I suspect that would have gotten a reaction.

Its also a system that is found in books. Sherri Tepper's Chronicles of Mavin Manyshaped being one that is very like this.
